are there any clothing optional resorts in Thailand?
I am relatively new to thailand. so maybe this is a dumb question , but are there any nudist resorts in the kingdom? any in Hua Hin? This does not include the swingers clubs in pattaya and issarn. I am talking about just nudity. Thanks.

Nearly. With only one I at the beginning though.vincent chang wrote:I believe it is spelled iINTELLIGENT
Being in "holiday-mode" is a strange and surreal place in the mind. It often speaks to the inner self something along the lines of: " ... I'm paying through the nose, I'm away from home and friends to watch me, I'm obviously richer than the locals, my money's good, I'm paying through the nose (once again) . . . so I'll damn well do anything I feel like doing in a tropical beach resort, this being Thailand/Huahin/Pattaya/Silom/Patpong and all, and these Thai folks don't seem to object ~ they smile at me ALL the time ~ and why not and why not and why not? ... "
At Patong Beach a few years ago we were lazing under umbrellas and along strolled (in front of us, 'twixt chair and ocean view) two large Frauleins of a somewhat advanced age 'sans' bikini top. Pendulous breasts (also of an advanced age) drooping almost to navel obscured our view . . . . I watched bemused, but the Beloved ~ being a Isaan village hick ~ immediately covered his eyes with his hands and muttered " .... oh, cannot look. Very bad for Thai people ... "
I laughed a bit uncomfortably but realized he had been offended not only for himself, but for the many Thai folks who were also on the beach. And then I realized that these two ladies really didn't care, or, being generous, really didn't think. They were in "holiday-mode" ... had become a different species really. They simply assumed that what was OK for the tourist season on the Baltic in Schleswig-Holstein (all 2 weeks of it) was also OK in Thailand, when in fact Buddhist sensitivity is the norm . . . at least regarding flesh-flashing on public beaches.
Not quite sure why "holiday-mode" automatically seems to morph folks into a mental purgatory where the mind gives validation to the idea that "I can do anything", but with some people (the majority, the minority??) it surely does. This purgatory almost demands that the inmate makes conscious decisions NOT to care what "the locals" think about anything . . . i.e. it demands obliviousness under all circumstances.

Being a new Member of this terrific message board I have observed over the last few weeks that This Place has it's own pet Troll (in the guise of a Mr Vincent Chang), and there are many folks here who insist on feeding him/her.
Being unsolicited advice: There is only one way of defeating a Troll (though another will pop up, guaranteed) besides banning and/or deleting his/her messages . . . and that is to ignore completely ( as I am NOT doing here ). Being ignored is the ONLY thing a Troll cannot abide . . . so needy are they.
Cheers ...

Just one more reason why I love living in Thailand ...

Well, I had quite a shock at the night market a few nights back : a 70 year old woman has only wearing a sports jersey (see-through kind) which allowed everyone a good look at her bra. What shocked me the most was that this woman was THAI!! O_o
I know so as I heard her speak Thai to her friend.

It's a small world after all...
We haven't touched on this one before so to speak. It's not unusual in the countryside and small towns to see women sitting around and walking around in just a bra and sarong. In fact, it's quite common. You see it most frequently in the early evenings when they have white powder smeared on their faces as well, apparently after their shower. Quite a site when strolling down a soi...LOL. More thought on this. Besides the bra/sarong being common place, many times I've seen Thai Grandmoms with a sarong on the bottom half and nothing at all on the top half, out by the well taking a shower, in full view of the neighbors.
I don't think it's nudity that embarrasses Thai's, how can it when you live in a one or two room pole house with 6+ family members and all use the same outhouse and outdoor well to shower?
I think it's when nudity is not a necessity and a part of everyday life that upsets them. Topless people on the beach is not a necessity, it's a parade. Shirtless beer belly farangs is also not a necessity, just slovenly.
If you look at traditional Thai and Khumer art and etchings, Thai women are everywhere topless, it was their custom back then apparently.
So, there is a fine line somewhere in this that a Thai believes one should not step across. Where that line is may be what I've explained above, or maybe not? Pete

Many tourists leave their brains at home as well...of course they are paying through the nose etc etc. which seems to justify their dimbass behaviour.
Add in copious amounts of booze, cultural ignorance, parochial mindsets, grade-school equivalent education and way too much telly at home and here they are.
Its a pity even the proles can now afford air tickets to virtually anywhere.
