I was told the same story about the water being OK for both of my houses. What the Thai's learn to live with and what is acceptable to a farang are quite far apart at times. Water becomes a critical issue when it is bad. The water filtering solutions are expensive so you are wise to check it out.

Make sure you have gentle steps at one end to allow you to sit and cool off reading and drinking. 12m is ok, width is not important. Forget jaquizzi as I have never used mine. If you have time you can take care yourself and I quite enjoy doing it( it's quite like keeping a good lawn) chemicals cost about B12000 a year and mine looses quite a lot of water one needs topping up each week (b250)
Enjoying 'Retirement'....So many jobs to do, I don't know how I ever had time to work!
