Just wondering if anyone here is unsing the Amity Treeaty for your corp...
Please , don't tell me it doesn't exsist as the U.S. Embassy is issuing papers daily and the have been advised the it will be extended. As to the past companies the treaty establishes that they would be help legal if the treaty is not extended. So says the King wqhom engaged in the treaty. I'm wondering if using an amity company will solve the problem as you don't need any thai shareholders after you do the conversion. Yeah. you open a corp then xfer it to Amity status......blah blah........

Thank god for the big air base in Korat....beside the begining of the mythical "Bank of Issan" See LBJ did do something good as President!
Amity Corp
Thai costs.
Open a corp and then get you Amity paper from the U.S. Embassy. I admit I don';t know what the fees are to the Thai Gov. but the lawyer fees are a nic of less that 20K Baht.
I realize that it does say no land etc but the issue has never been about land but about the nationality of the directors, yes?

I think this only applies to U.S. citizens who have/had special arrangements with the Thai govt, hence the lack of replies as it means nothing to the rest of us regular scumbags.

Amity Corp
We / I am about to start an Amity Corp Co. for the second time.
The issue is about majority shareholding, as a US citizen may hold the majority shareholding in a Thai company, whereas other nationalities are limited to less than 50%, with Thai's owning the balance. To the best of my knowedge the need for 7 shareholders applies to all companies, amity or otherwise.
The issue of land ownership by amity companies does not change the law and technically no foreign national can legally own the actual land, although as we all know there are many attempts to circumvent this restriction. The restriction upon land ownership is by no means unique to Thailand, and although I do not know the details there are considerable constraints upon land ownership by foreigners in Mexico, Switzerland and (many) other countries.
