I've had a few friends visit recently, and both Good View and Initial have both received very favourable reviews from them.

I stayed at Good View once, for a single night. The name perplexes me as I'm not exactly sure what exactly is so good about the view from there, but the biggest issue is that it's right next to the train tracks so you need to be an exceptionally heave sleeper to be able to get a good night's rest.

Other than that the room was kitted out nicely, and comfortable. And the beer was reasonably priced.

That was always my fear, and I had previously advised visitors to avoid it for that very reason. However, I've had 2 different friends stay there, and both say there is absolutely no disturbance from the trains. Neither are heavy drinkers, so that's not the reason for not hearing anything.

I am the first to admit that they surprised me, but they both spoke extremely highly of the hotel. I am only repeating what I was told.

Well the Trains disturbed me, that's for sure. To be fair, I'm a particularly light sleeper; the sound of the crossing lights coming on was enough to wake me. But after that, the trains made an incredible noise. Luckily for me I quite like trains, so the first couple of times I went out to watch. But by the third occurrence it did start to get irritating!

I live in a completely different area but quite close to the railway line and I don't hear much at all after about 10.30 pm and the first train heading towards BKK is about 4.00 am, but if you're fast asleep, you would probably sleep through it anyway.

i stayed at SMILE Resort in Soi94, :agree: http://smilehuahinresort.com/

and it was a good stay, friendly staff, large rooms,
location is about the middle between railroad and petchkasemRoad,

so not too much noise from train or cars. (read the very good reviews ...)
