The big ones are sea bass, not sure about the others, maybe groupers.
He mainly uses live prawn which he catches himself.
He doesn't ledger for the sea bass, the method he uses is: Take a 12" paternoster from the swivel then tie a length of line about seven feet long and attach 3 or 4 elastic bands, insert a rock to the bands. This way you are fishing about five feet up from the seabed.
Tight lines.

I am fishing back home just for fun and now I think it would be a nice way to spend some days,,
Is there any boats for fishing out to sea in cha am? and how about acuipment rods and stuff,, rental or need to bring own?

come by the grap the info..
Re: Fishing Cha- Am
Hi all,
went out the other night (about 6 miles) and came back with just under 42 kilo's of fish ranging from 2-5kg.
Plenty of fish out there Barracuda, sting ray, Shark, Grouper and Snapper.
Some well priced tackle shops here in Hua Hin too I've found 4 that are better than the 2 in Cha am, (most things about half the price of the shop in the same road as the Irish bar).
Good luck and tight lines.

You may do it faster! But I do it better!

How did you go out? Do you own your ow boat, rent one, etc? Also, what sort of rod and tackle did you use? Shark I've caught in SA would never be landed with the average rods I see around here in HH, so any tips, hints, or advice welcome? Lastly, if you did pay for an outing type trip, were you rushed at all, or was it a nice relaxing experience. I'm one of those anglers who believes leisure time is vital.
Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact

Hi Takiap,
Got my own little boat mate and it was a good night for fishing, clean water good moon and plenty of squid around for bait.
The sharks are nothin compared to the ones you'll be used to, more of a big Dogfish.(we call'em Tope at home).
There are some organised trips around but I think they're all smaller type boats and not that comfortable for a night on the waves and not all that cheap I believe.
From Takiap I was qouted 7,500 for the day (5 people),24 hours with one meal included but ya have to be able to eat what they cook for you.
cheapest I know of is 5,500 but again only a 30ft fishing boat, the guy has some good spots on his Gps and will only take you out if he thinks there are fish about (clean water and not the red tide that comes in after a heavy rain fall up North)
I asked on here before if anyone was interested in a trip from Ranong but No interest was shown and to be honest, after speaking to the boat owners down there it wasn't really worth the effort.
They wanted 15,000 per 24 hours and a maximum of 12 people fishing in Thai waters or a 150,000 for a five day trip but was out into the Andaman side (Deep water stuff) bit too long for most people.
Any way back to the topic, the fish are out there just have a chat to the local fishermen and most of them are happy to tell ya where (that's how I got most of my waypoints).
As for tips, 30lb wire seems to be the way to go here with size 13-15 hooks, herring rig.
If you want to know any more ie spots or tackle shops let me know and I'll gladly pass any information I have on to you.

MXcross, would you have any interest in taking some folks out fishing on your boat? Myself and a few friends are looking to do a bit of fishing and you sound like you know what you're talking about...

Checking his profile, mxcross hasn't been on-line since July 2012, so not sure he will learn of the new posts about his boat!
