They've just been up my Soi doing a new capture for street view. In the past I've often seen the car going around with it's camera turret on top looking very strange. Today, it was a Grab motorcycle. Instead of having a green bag on the back, the guy had a tripod, with 4 cameras fixed. Progress, I guess
I knew it was Grab because the rider was still in his Grab uniform.

An old thread, but still current.

I guess I'm due to be in the next local update ...

Not Google in my opinion. Looks a very simple 4 way lash-up. Not at all like the set up I saw on a bike 2 years ago. Could that produce 360 degree, plus up and down, views that we see on street view? Grab do mapping as well and also contribute to Open Street Map.
No, when I saw the Grab bike go past my house, I simply presumed with new technology the rather lavish Google technology was no longer required. Then I saw the 'here' camera technology yesterday (Hua Hin speed camera thread), which was very compact i.e. a few cameras mounted inside a 1" square piece of metal sitting about 9" above the car roof.
Obviously everybody is at it these days, and they all have their own versions of technology.
Coincidentally, I passed the Google Street View car whilst driving home from Ratchaburi this morning, so that sort of confirms Grab is doing its own thing.
I'm confused by this thread as I've been using Google Maps Hua Hin street view for a while (not sure how long though). Most images I've just checked were captured in October 2023, stretching many kilometers outside of Hua Hin town. Images for Chumphon go back to 2022.
