Post by Harry »

Well I don't think we needed a lengthy UN investigation to tell us that! :D
Scotland worst for violence - UN

Scotland has been named the most violent country in the developed world by a United Nations report.

The study found that, excluding murder, Scots were almost three times as likely to be assaulted as Americans.

I guess with all the murders recently, Thailand would have come high on the list... but ah! they aren't a developed nation yet are they. :(

Geeze, I love these things. Study from 1991 to 2000? Perhaps someone at the BBC has a grudge against the Scotts? Too may young graduates in this world majoring in statistical analysis and really....nothing much better to do? Here we could list thousands of entries:

1. Brocolli and tomatos used to be good for my prostate but, not any longer?

2. Vitamin C is good, bad, good, bad, good, bad...?

3. Fathers who sire babies and smoke prior to conception, the child has a higher chance of coming down with Leukemia.....test sample.. 16.

4. Hot off the press today in Thai Rath. A Rooster mated with a duck and produced a long necked, duck faced creature with a chicken body...and....3 toe, unwebbed yellow feet. Photo is real. Do a search for Thai Rath issue for July 3. Statisticians caught with cold feet on this one.

If the Scotts enjoy a good punchup among themselves after a night of drinking, so be it. They are not going to run around ravaging foreign tourists, grabbing gold chains and purses as they zoom by on motorbikes or, flee from hit an run accidents. One really needs to define "violence". Pete :guns:

Mostly gang battles in run down inner city estates. Anyone with an ounce of sense steers a wide bearth in daylight, nevermind after dark. Lack of investment from central government. Allow people to live in those conditions and what do you expect.

Interesting to see who was second in the report....

I think England will overtake them if they ever become developed.

This whole thing is an error - it was actually a miss-print due to Scots colloquial pronunciation.

The correct title of the report is "Scotland worst for violins" and is a reference to the poor quality, mass-produced violins made in Highland sweat-shops by a variety of illegal Kosnian, Thainese and Arabesque asylum escapees. The industry is run by the same McMafia who control the thistle selling children outside kebab vans late at night.

Maybe an entire new thread.....

Doesn't the British Royal Family have estates in Scotland? Wasn't Mountbatten assassinated in Scotland?

Who is the "central government' In Scotland....as far as funds are concerned?

I semi understand the historical break, but isn't there some synergy and social financial cooperation between the two governments? Pete

They have estates throughout the UK Pete - Scotland is still part of Britain after all. Central Government is Westminster. Scotland and, to a lesser extent, Wales have devolved regional governments. These regional governments do not have as much autonomy as those of, say, Spain. Neither Wales nor Scotland have sovereignty over their own dominion - that is still held by The United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland, to give it the full and correct title.

Mountbatten was actually killed in Ireland, along with his 14 year old grandson.

England, a population fact: Did you know that the real English population is only 4 million - the rest are all Scots down here trying to better themselves. :D

There you go ... no competition really, we can't even include Colombia.

But that wasnt the question.

And then take out all the Aussies, Kiwis and Springboks who have fled their primitive enclaves for the chance to better themselves by working in a pub and the English population is actually only about 23!

The USA wins hands down or rather hands up this is a stick up, numbers of murders is amazing and how many developed countries have to call the army onto the streets of a major city because the murder rate is out of control (New Orleans); Statistics about the numbers of black men under thirty in prison, number of shootings, gun crimes etc etc.

Mountbatten was blown up on his motor boat, with his grandson,a boy from the local village and I believe a fourth person but it was in Eire or southern Ireland which is and has been a republic since 1920.I believe the fishing village was called something like Mulagamore but need correcting on actual spelling. On the same day 18 Paratroopers from the 2nd battalion,The Parachute regiment were killed in a bomb at Warrenpoint in Northern Ireland though the bomb was detonated by remote control from across the border in the South.
