Bringing Back the Banned

Post by GLCQuantum »

Is there no way we could get back some of the, let's say, more outspoken members who have been banned.

Mr Plum comes to mind for one. Jose at a push. E-Dork even, who is currently serving the longest suspension in the history of HHF.

Would spice things up a bit. :D

No, no... they already brought me back from the dead once - I'm sure they'll do it again.

And Baabaa.

It all just seems a little slow. There used to be a lot of good banter with good people, but after a four month absence, upon my return it seems a little lacking. I've a feeling that I've been 'unfriended' by most so no longer get a reply. It's either that or I'm just spot on with what I post (after maturing these past months), so no need for reply/debate.

I often wondered what happened to Baa Baa and Super Joe... did they get banned or just bored?
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Sandman ....was he banned? He used to contribute some good topics. Mr Plum went overboard, but maybe a life time ban was a little harsh. Some banned members were amusing, I always remember Johan lol!
Maybe introduce a scheme where they can only write for a short period at a time to begin with. A bit like being on probation :P

I don't think Sandman was ever banned, and neither was Super Joe as far as I know. In fact, I'm not sure if Mr Plum was banned or whether he simply stopped posting. Fair enough, some of his posts were not appreciated by some/many, but I wouldn't have thought they warranted a ban?

Anyway, I voted to bring them back. :thumb:

If you look by their avatar in old posts I believe it shows if banned, or not. It looks like Sandman, SuperJoe and Baa baa aren't banned, but haven't visited the site in a while.

This is a Brit owned site, is it not? Lol, I immediately got that feeling when my 4-letter words were blocked. Banning is never appropriate unless it’s spam. You Brits grow-up, free speech is the most important human right - the US doesn’t get much right, free speech is the exception.

Free speech comes with responsibilities. It doesn't give the right to someone to be gratuitously offensive or provocative. That's the way that grown-up's operate.

Agree, with most "rights" come responsibilities. However, many (especially the young) seem to have forgotten that. Even The Pope recently agreed there are limits on that should be applied to free speech.

As for the forum being British owned...I'm not not sure if that's true. Moderators are from UK, Scandy etc. countries but that doesn't mean that Admin & owners are UK people. No knowledge of the topic but I'd guess that they aren't.

Who decides what’s offensive, you, me, the government, the queen - or why not ignore it or let the marketplace of ideas purge it. Censorship is for cowards.

LMFAO, you use the Pope as an example of wisdom on this topic - now that is highly OFFENSIVE to me. So you agree that one can’t insult the silly ludicrous nonsense that is Christianity or they get killed like the Charlie Hebdo cartoonists or get punched in the face by the Pope? Jesus f------ Christ I hope you're not American.

Plenty of US loonies on almost every topic before you toss-yourself-off about how wonderful you lot are.
