Truthiness

Post by Bamboo Grove »

I came across this word today and it's new to me. It's meaning was explained but I'd like to know how the natives would define it. In the old days, when I lived in Thailand, I had many anglo friends who would have explained this. Now I have to ask this way but I'm happy, there's still a way to do this. Thanks for your replies in advance.

At a push, and having never heard the word, I'd have defined it as an unnecessary and nonsensical bastardisation of "truthfulness". Having googled it, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truthiness, I see I'm right.
This is the way

^^ I'm with DM on this one. Far too many bastardisations that are unnecessary these days, like one I heard in a meeting last week: 'clusterisation'. "You mean 'clustered'?", I asked.

Damn those vapid management consultancy firms...

I thought it was a naturally slim person without the aid of weightloss surgery or diet.

Surely clusterisation (regardless of whether the word is actually genuine or not) would refer to the process of bringing a group of items together into a cluster, where as clustered referres to a group of items that are already in a cluster?

Pleng, you got me. If anything, it should be the gerund form: 'clustering'
