Scary statistics

Post by buksida »

Was having a chat with one of the other moddys yesterday as we drove to the beach. Most of the conversation was about traffic and general driving since we encountered our fair share of road idiots on this short journey.

Anyway discovered this stats website and found this one particularly disturbing:

Not sure how reliable those stats are though.

Food for thought.

That's terrible.
Thaksin went public last week on the issue and told the police forces to start implementing the already pretty adequate driving laws.
A noble sentiment that I'm sure all of us would like to see work. Whether the old bill actually do anything about it is another matter.
The financial loss to the country in terms of work days lost through injuries and medical/hospital costs must be horrendous.
That dosn't take into account the pain and suffering of family and friends left behind.

According to those stats the UK has only had 5 deaths - what are we talking about here, deaths this week?

I did say in my original post "Not sure how reliable those stats are though."

I think the UK is about 600 a year, more info may be found here:

The figure for Thailand is a lot higher than that too, they have over 600 deaths just over the songkran weekend.
