Living in America, their is racist folks everywhere that smile in our faces and talk shit at the same time. So how are black Americans treated here?

Hua Hin has very few American visitors, and the American influence is minimal (although the obligatory Starbucks is to found). The majority of visitors are European and English. As I am not black, I obviously cannot comment on how you would be received by other tourists. However, the Thais are very friendly and relaxed about most things, and I would not see colour being an issue with them. Hua Hin is about being laid back and enjoying life. I doubt that doubt that people with such prejudices would enjoy HH. [/img]

I have seen black guys, unsure of their Nationality, drinking in bars, in the Hilton and pulling Bar Girls like everybody else, so no problems in that dept, if that was what you were worried about.
For another point of view ,I remember reading this in Stickmans site.

Where ever you go our kid there will be the ones who say they are not but the truth of the mater they usually are worst of all. It’s just a fact of life as you will be aware. Human nature is to have prejudice whether its colour, creed, race or gender. Any one who says they are not is talking out of their ass and will be the worst on the block and behind the back of the person next to them. The best thing to do is just get out there man and do what makes you happy mate!!!!! And don’t give a toss to what any one else thinks!!!

Good to learn that England is not a part of Europe for an australian guy! Funny to see from France...

Racism

Overall, you shouldn't have a major problem with racism in the hatred sense, although a lot of Thais around the soi called my friend "chocolate man".

The owner of a certain guest house gets that all the time. I certainly dont think for one minute its a racial slur as the word farrang isnt meant in bad taste and is used greatly, Its more the limitations of the thai vocabulary

I really don't think you'll have any problems with the colour of your skin anywhere in Thailand.
A Jamacian friend (lady) has been over three times to visit me and travel. She's been allowed into the best resorts to use the swimming pools (non resident) and generally been treated a damn site better than other "white" friends who've been here.
