Birthday Cake

Post by Big Boy »

Yesterday was a significant birthday, and we had arranged a candle lit (forced by the power cut) dinner at one of my favourite restaurants. To mark the occasion, a birthday cake was required.

Now, I don't know about the rest of you, but although ample substitutes, Thai birthday cakes just don't hit the mark.

A friend recommended that we order a cake from The Little Baker, situated just around the corner from Soi 55/1 on Petchkasem Road (near the main traffic lights).

My son went down and ordered a cake to my exact specifications (chocolate, chocolate and a bit more chocolate  ). Well, the finished article was perfect. It was cake like any of us had never before tasted in Thailand. In fact some of the Thais weren't quite sure about it because they had never tasted anything like it (the icing) before - it was delicious.

When my son collected it yesterday lunchtime, to protect the artwork from the heat, it was packed in a large polystyrene box, packed with ice.

I can't recommend this cake highly enough - it definitely hit the mark for the special occasion. We will use the shop again.
Ignore the typo please.

Well done BB, for getting to whatever age you have managed to reach.
Good to see you are sticking religiously to that diet.

At our age, any day that I can get out of bed, is a special occasion.
My birthday was Friday and I told the wife and son that they had the age on the cards wrong! It took my beloved, just 10 seconds of beating me around the head with the calendar, to prove I was wrong!
Seems that I have lived a year longer than I thought. No scrummy cake like yours though.

Mine was on Thursday, so between the three of us is three days.

Here's a wide one, next year yours is on the Saturday, what about a massive three way party if you are in Hua Hin?

We could invite friends, family and the Forum.
