Early Breakfast

Post by bapak »

Always looking for a breakfast place that opens around 8am so I can eat then off to work. Apart from the hotel buffets, there is not much. Victoria / Terrace 90, etc. all now closed.

Anyhow just located a 8am opener. A little off the beaten track, 7 table, real mod decor. and a delightful owner from Chiang Mai. Serves European breakfast and Thai food.

Name is Saijai and is located on Soi 58.... Turn from Phetkasem Road into Soi 58, continue along, cross railway line and thru the traffic lights. A landmark is the Dinosaur Market.... continue past and about 2 blocks up on the right side you will see a green building. Saijai is in the first shop house.

The bread is good if you don't mind it's so full of air holes that it could be eaten by the toothless. The coffee, even by the low standards I set for robusta beans in SE Asia, is a caffeine source, nothing else.

Ate there 4 times. Three times the waitstaff had no clue that the menu offers a choice of breads, nor did they know more than a handful of words in English. Pointing at the pictures in the menu just confused them. But they sure know how to fry an egg.

Ciabatta .. which is my choice is supposed to be light and airy as far as I am aware, coffee i dont like. The staff dont speak great english, but always smile and do their best and with patience you get what you want.
No complaints at Morning Bread from me or anyone I have taken there, and thats been a lot of clients and friends!

I agree JW, I don't eat breakfast out very often, but it's my favourite as well.

Ask at HHH&B, if they don't have it, I'm sure they will know where to get it.

Where's the best place to go for an early morning breakfast? Somewhere that opens at about 7:30-8:00

Southern end of Hua Hin from 94-112

Many thanks
