I've called in twice in the past week and have been well fed. Both time about 2'ish and there were not many customers in but that is a time-of-day thing I'm sure.

I see they have now put up a new sign that actually tells you what they do there! And it is all in English which I think is an excellent idea as probably 99% of their business will be farang. The menu is all in English as well.

Went with a friend for lunch. The Menu was extensive with an amazing choice of breads. Prices very fair and the food was "Excellent". Will be back again. I'm very excited for this place to be in Hua Hin.

He might be one of only a few, but he's not the only one. I also out of my way to avoid endangering their lives when I've had a beer or two. I haven't adjusted my times though. Instead I simply pull over and park somewhere, or do a U-turn.


On a more serious note.......I don't think HHF is saying he makes a habit of driving while drunk. Instead, he's just saying that he has been here long enough to know that it's best not to put yourself in a vulnerable position, which in fact you would be doing if you got stopped by the MIB and they got a whiff of alcohol, even if you are not over the limit. Why take a chance if you don't need to?

Thanks Takiap, that is correct. I am not a bar stool sitter who pounds them down until I fall off the stool (like many here ), but I do enjoy a couple of drinks with my meals, usually only beer or wine depending on the food/restaurant. I am large enough that I believe I could have 3 with food and probably still pass the breathalyzer test at the percentage they allow in the U.S., but here who knows, a rinse with Listerine before going out could probably get you fined or locked up if they maintain their testing equipment the way they do everything else.

BTW, a friend had a local cop at a check point on Soi 102 Jump on his motorbike and attempt to chase him down after he made a U turn to avoid the trap. He saw the guy going for the bike in his rear view mirror and was able to park, get out of the vehicle and walk away before the police caught up, so they do watch for that.

This place has been put on my list of restaurants to try out during my stay in March. Just hope it is still around by that time...

Well we finally got round to trying out this restaurant on Thursday night.

My wife and I arrived just after 7:30pm and there were already 15 people there, one group of 9, a table of 4 and one couple.

Nevertheless we were greeted personally by a nice lass who showed us to a table and gave us the menus. It is a very extensive menu, and I was glad that we were given sufficient time to have a good browse though it.

First impressions count for a lot, and when I noticed it was only 65 baht for a big bottle of chang, that helped! Considering it is 110 or 120 baht at the nice Indian restaurant at Smor in Takiap, more on that later.

I think Barry had mentioned the size of the nan, I wish I had listened to him, as we ordered two, but one would have been plenty for us. We did order other things as well though.

I enjoyed the food, although for my wife (farang) the jury is still out. She does admit that it was probably more to do with her choice, so she is more than happy to try it again. it might be a cunning ploy to get me to take her back again!

Overall I really enjoyed it, nice friendly staff without being overwhelming. Good food at very reasonable prices.

I think if I was a tourist, with money to spend, taking my wife out for the night, I would go for the restaurant at Takiap. It is a really lovely location, and I've never had any problem with the food, it's always been excellent. I was there about a month ago and was surprised that we weren't given the Indian menu. It turned out another couple had what appeared to be the only two Indian menus they had. It was certainly not a problem for us, and indeed it gave us a bit of a laugh.

So in summary, special occasions, birthdays, anniversaries etc. we'll head to Takaip, but if just fancying a fix of Indian food we'll head to soi 80, better value for money.

Friend and I had lunch today and we were both very impressed with the friendly service, quality of the food. I had the Rogan Josh Lamb whilst my friend went with the chicken daal all scooped up with a selection of nan bread. Costs for 2 including soft drinks and coffees to finish..615 baht. My friend was especially impressed with the quantity of red wine priced at 79 baht.

We shall certainly be using this feeding establishment again.

Having lived and world on the subcontinent for a number of years I like many others here am experienced enough to know what constitutes a good Indian meal.

As a regular at S&S It was a nice surprise to read that there is a new kid in town. Having tried this new India, here are my thoughts;

I was pretty satisfied with each of the 4 dishes - Lamb Rogan Josh, Chicken Vindaloo, Tarka Dal, Chicken sheikh kebab (plus breads but if you can't get those right the.n there really is no point).

The whole lot, induing a beer whilst waiting for my takeaway to be prepared cost 670 bht. Lots of food, cheap price.

The food however, in my view did not live up to some of the comments posted here. The meats were well cooked, but the base of the sauce in each dish came through to strong leaving each dish to taste exactly the same. It was a strange taste and not one have have experienced before and not overly sure what it was.

If I was to compare this place with S&S, they are much of the same and are both pretty good value for what you pay. I will stick to S&S in the future, i just feel that their dishes do taste differently. Not to say that I won't call back into this place after stroll down soi 80 one evening.
