I've always found that Lin's does a really good hale & hearty English breakfast and I don't think you could buy the raw ingredients for the money they charge and cook it yourself (why would you want to anyway), so don't know what this "...3 times the price..." nonsense is.Frog wrote:
Why go out to pay 3 times the price of eating at home, when you must build your own breakfast?

I think Frog wrote previously that he does not want American or English breakfast....so not interesting for him really.aragon wrote:I've always found that Lin's does a really good hale & hearty English breakfast and I don't think you could buy the raw ingredients for the money they charge and cook it yourself (why would you want to anyway), so don't know what this "...3 times the price..." nonsense is.Frog wrote:

I agree with you Aragon, it is nice sometimes to go out for breakfast. For me, meet up with friends for a brunch, especially a little sunshine and a good view if you can get it

Hi all , Sorry Mods, I had not pick up on the new protocol so I didn't realise I was flaunting the new regulationsPaderborn wrote:For a good breakfast we like Bobby's bar on Soi 102.
Where Nam cooks you a great brekkie
Last time we were there it was 5 items for 99 baht, plus you can add on extras of your choice, eg black pudding
Bobbys also sells tasty packs of bacon, sausage and ham from the freezer.
Bobby's is a great little bar & eatery! and they find some unique ways to feed you... look at the thread on their sunday lunch, and yes in their case there is such a thing as a free lunch.
They are also starting a free BBQ on Fridays.

We hope you find it all as good as we do

Apologies

Plus, you can always reverse the question; why cook at home when you can go out and still get exactly the breakfast you want?Siani wrote:I think Frog wrote previously that he does not want American or English breakfast....so not interesting for him really.aragon wrote:I've always found that Lin's does a really good hale & hearty English breakfast and I don't think you could buy the raw ingredients for the money they charge and cook it yourself (why would you want to anyway), so don't know what this "...3 times the price..." nonsense is.Frog wrote:

Anyway it may be 3 times the price, but if you only eat a fried breakfast once or twice a week then keeping the ingredients fresh can be a chore. You can probably loose enough money on wasted ingredients to make that '3 times the price' seem like a bargain!
And then some of us don't have cooking facilities anyway!

The only missing ingredient at Lin's is the good view, but then the food makes up for thatSiani wrote:I think Frog wrote previously that he does not want American or English breakfast....so not interesting for him really.aragon wrote:I've always found that Lin's does a really good hale & hearty English breakfast and I don't think you could buy the raw ingredients for the money they charge and cook it yourself (why would you want to anyway), so don't know what this "...3 times the price..." nonsense is.Frog wrote:

Quite right Pleng, but I still maintain that you'd be hard pushed to buy the raw ingredients for what they charge for the whole montyPleng wrote:Plus, you can always reverse the question; why cook at home when you can go out and still get exactly the breakfast you want?

i spent 3 days in BKK, had 2 b'fasts. Absolutely no 99b meals to be had.
.
Mine were 230b & 250b, but the 230 became almost 270 after 7% tax and 10% service
HH is really a bargain town!

^ Yes, compared to Bangkok or Phuket.... compared to everywhere else, not so much.

Aragon said about Lins
Oh, and Black or white pudding would go down a treat too
BK breakies? Used to be a couple of good places on soi 7 near the Beergarten. I'm there for a couple of days so will report back. They used to be good and just short of 200 Bht
As an aside. Those of you who remember Canadian Barry who ran a breakie place for many moons has sold up and is taking Paa (my X's niece) back to her Isaan village. They will be missed as a great couple and always a good spot for a beer, some nosh and exchange of a few jokes. Last day I believe is the 27th. I've even witnessed some heated golf exchanges by friends there and they both know who I'm talking about
OK for watching motor chaos on PetchaThe only missing ingredient at Lin's is the good view, but then the food makes up for that

Yeah I've never understood that either.... on my way to have breakfast and seeing bars open with old guys drinking beer at 0900.... I always wonder if they do that in their own country... I mean I've seen on TV that the bar in "Coronation Street" doesn't open until 1300 to prepare for all the guys who come in to drink at 1400....Dannie Boy wrote: No doubt "tourists", but I have seen many a farang have 2 large Singha for their breakfast. How/why they do it beats me, but I guess it takes all sorts. For me, you can't beat a mixed fruit salad with so much to choose from here.

No excuse for drinking as early as 9 but don't forget alot of people switch to Thai time, in bed at 9 as it's dark at 6:30 but up at 5 or something.
Up in the boonies having a drink at 10am is only really the equivalent of us having early doors in England.

Thanks Richard, I hate to hear this as his places always have good breakfasts, sandwiches, cold beers and lively conversation. He told me he was selling the last time I was there but I thought it would take longer. Guess I better get out there today or tomorrow! His first bar on Nebkahardt was my "daily" when I first moved here back in 2004.As an aside. Probably not because they're more than likely working. Don't forget, some people only manage to fly abroad once or twice in their lives, so if you ask me, they can drink as early as they want and as much as they want when they're enjoying their holidays.
As for the Thais..............there is no "connection" between drinking and the time of day.
Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact

My early drinking is for medicinal purposes. After living here for years it's either that or Xanax so I choose alcohol.

This thread is 3 years old. Any updates on where to get a good breakfast would be appreciated. Especially any along soi 102.
