On a whim I decided to try out my weekly shopping at the new Big C Marche. It might help to know that the checkout cashiers are located in the middle of the store for the general groceries and at a couple other locations depending on what you want to buy. Bread is a separate store, so is the rotisserie and perhaps beauty and tourist sections too. Leave that for others to try.
My story: Grabbed a cart and shopped for a number of the usual grocery items. ( I noted and agreed on the narrow aisles and the poor pet food section as reported above.) I headed for the main checkout and realized that I had to check out before completing my list. I needed bread. Location: on the other side of the cashiers! So what to do? The cashier didn’t know so I ended up checking out and walking to the bread section and added a couple of packaged loaves to my already full cart. Went to pay and discovered that packaged bread is paid for across the aisle at the rotisseries chicken store. ( Bakery is a separate operation) So into my third queue . . .still in the store mind you. (No sign of security at all and the cashiers are all trainees.) I am spoiled by Macro perhaps, but it seems a strange way to do business. Be interested to know how others handled the triple queue.

Never thought abouut it like that. I have just finished my main shop, then paid for it. Then wandered to the bread selection, bought my bread, got them to cut it (big mistake), paid for it, then wandered across the aisle to the fresh hot food place, selected some german pork leg or whatever it's called here, and paid for it.LolaBeltran wrote: ↑Tue Jul 01, 2025 12:15 pmI am spoiled by Macro perhaps, but it seems a strange way to do business. No real different to other supermarkets I shop at in central Bkk.
The basic prinicipal as far as I understand, is to offer easy access to those who don't want to go into a supermarket just to buy bread, have a coffee etc and same for the hot takeaway food as well. I quite like the idea of paying for these last. Getting easier now as after tasting the bread, I still prefer the other bread place on the ground floor (same company as in Market Village).
