Digital Camera

Post by buksida »

Looking to get myself a digital camera this month. Can anyone reccommend a reputable place in Hua Hin?

Also camera reccommendations would be nice as I've only ever had an SLR (budget between 12 and 16K).

There is a magazine in the UK called "What Camera" or what car, what video etc. There is a vast range of options, and prices, depending on technical specification. I can't comment on the prices in Thailand but a good Fuji here, with 3.2 megapixel, zoom and viewing frame cost my daughter 350 pounds (x70 = 24500 baht) Must be cheaper in Thailand. Don't over-specify but the spec above is about right.

Good luck.

Found one i like the look of: Fuji Finepix S304, 3.2 Megapixels, 6x Zoom.
A bit pricy here 16,500 in the big Kodak shop on Petchkasem compared to prices on the web (220 USD) also needs an extra 64MB memory card as the 16MB one supplied isnt sufficient. Wondering if it might be better to buy one online.

That Fuji is good and represents very fair value if you can buy on-line for 220 US which is a lot cheaper than the Kodak shop and a third of the UK cost !!! Just watch for after-sales service......... 8)

Do yourself a favour and get a 256mb card.
For the extra it is well worth it.

Yeh i like the look of the IXUS and now Canon have a new range it should be a bit cheaper.

This site : http://tohome.com/Catalog.asp?catalog_id=345
has a nice list of cameras cheaper than in town but I cant buy online as I dont have a credit card :cuss:

I reckon a 128 card should suffice as most of the shots i'll be taking wont be full res but definately agreed that the cards that come with them just aint enough for the job!

I had a Canon before but need money so I sold it. I want to buy a new DC within budget of 200$. Now there is this one in store:

Price ~200$

HP 4.1 megapixe;

Zoom 3x - 7x

Screen LCD 1,5

KT 90-28-59mm

With 128MB card and a leg.

It seem cool to me but some people said the Digital camera from HP is not good. I don't know I'm ussing load of stuffs from HP now and they're all cool.

Just want to ask if there is anyone of you experience a HP digital camera.
I'm adorable crazy ! :-)

I'm very happy with the camera I bought in the Bangkok airport. It is a Sony DSC-S60, 4.1 MegaPixel camera with a Carl Zeiss/Vario Tessar zoom lens. Paid about 8000 Baht for it. Uses Memory Stick PRO.

There is a shop somewhere in the middle on the way from Hua Hin Traffic to Marriott on the left side that have an ok range of cameras, don't remeber the name of the place, think there was a Fuji sign outside. Prices seemed to be ok.

I ended up buying a Fuji Finepix S5000 about 18 months ago and its been a great camera, best feature is definately the 10x optical zoom.

Personally I dont like HP stuff, they should stick to printers. There are specs and prices (Thai baht) of cameras on this site you could use to compare: www.tohome.com

Buksi should know better than to talk about ancient history when it comes to technology.

I have just been down this route and let my budget do the deciding. I use a few sites but I found this one good.

http://resellerratings.shopping.com/xPP ... egapixe0ls

I ended up with their second choice Fuji E550. Their first choice was the HP 760. I could not find any reseller on the crap HP site anywhere in Thailand. I then found out that

I was tad dissappointed when I found out that HP had an agent in Hua Hin who was doing the camera at 5000 Baht off.

Despite what other people have said (and I sympathise with) HP 760 comes up trumps in many reviews.

Try the shop next to Halex Wine Merchant next to the Grand Market.

Advances are being made as we speak.

I bought the E550 in Big C in Petburi for 1000 baht less than I could get it in Hua Hin and I got a free 1GB pack and a spare pair of batteries thrown in.

Sorry if some of this has already been covered but I can not be bothered to read it all.

Absolutely definitely not true. I checked all the prices against Dixons Online and they were cheaper in UK than hear in all cases even bearing in mind that you maybe could get someone to buy duty free at Dixons in Heathrow Terminal N.

Lin,

Go for the Fuji E550. Excellent and under $200 US.

When are you going to send me the pics?

Ah, the walking encyclopedia is back. Ever tried getting anything from HP serviced or repaired? Its like trying to get Maserati parts in Mukdahan.

I personally dont like their stuff, nothing to do with history or technology, just an opinion mate.

OKie Guess, I have a Fuji paper camera ( bought it for 40EUR on sale ) It's going very well with Fuji flim and give good picture. I checked the E550 as you suggested but they are all over 270$, I can not go to Thailand to buy it though, will you pay a visit to Vietnam soon???
I also checked the rating on the HP DC I planed to buy and they rated it around 3... ummm maybe I should wait a bit and raise my budget.

Btw on HP stuffs, I'm using a HP laptop, scaner and printer :-)) and luckily I haven't been in their repaire shop yet!
