If your problem is a browser hijack (just a guess since your descriptions are vague) then the earlier advice "Try resetting the browsers back to default..." should fix it.

Follow these steps to reset Chrome (v69.0.3497.100):
1. At the top right, click the icon showing 3 vertical dots ('customize and control Google Chrome').
2. Click 'Settings'.
3. Scroll down, find & click 'Advanced'.
4. Scroll down, find & click 'Reset and clean up'.
5. Confirm/click 'Reset Settings'.
6. Close, then restart the browser.

If this resolved the issue then can continue with (re)installing trusted extensions.

Not getting that here - though there is no way a TOT router can or would serve ads for True.

Would run a full malware/adware scan anyway.

Yes, I've been getting it for the past two days on any BBC Sports page ( https://www.bbc.com/sport ). I'm on TOT but it appears True has advertised directly with the BBC.

I turned on a VPN and directed it to a server outside of Thailand and the add did not appear. We'll probably have to endure it for a few days as I doubt True is paying the BBC long term for it. Pete

Look at the top of the ad. It's not just True but seems to indicate four separate companies? :

Getting it using Safari as well so that's three different browsers now.

NBA League Pass is the sponsor, none of the other companies listed. Click on any one of them and they all take you to the NBA site who I guess is simply showing how you can watch it from within Thailand after you buy a season subscription from NBA League Pass.

Avast Driver Updater

Post by lomuamart »

The computer has been playing up a bit lately with programs freezing after a few hours of use (Ctrl+alt/delete allows me to start again) and I suppose it might not be too long before a new desktop is needed.
Started the computer this morning and for the first time Avast came up with their free driver updater download. I got and ran it and it came up with 12 issues all to do with Intel and the processor. I considered fixing the items but something held me back. A quick general internet search led me to a computer forum where the experts were saying not to use this updater.
Did I do the right thing by not updating from Avast or is it OK to do so and am I likely to see any benefits?

I think you did the right thing. I'm no expert but do know my way around a bit. I had been using Avast for a while, their free Antivirus software which has a few tools as well, but after a program update last year I thought I was going to have to bin my computer - thought it was hardware issues.

Anyway uninstalled and spent some time clearing all traces of Avast (not easy) and ll is now fine. It is an ageing Samsung notebook running XP but has all my I-tunes on it and is fine for what I ask it to do.

A friend with a newer, top range laptop had similar issues - all fine now Avast has gone

I use Kaspersky Free now, bit tedious but aren't all Anti Virus programs. Again only basic cover for free and they try to get you to buy add-ons.

Don't bother with the driver updater, I tried the same and it came up with all kinds of drivers needing updating. I then went to the relevant driver sites and it confirmed I already had the latest driver. If you try to follow the Avast driver updater it tries to get you to pay. There are other sites which give free driver checks, I can't remember which one I sued but it worked fine, don't bother with the Avast one, although I do think their free anti virus works perfect.
