Anybody else received a nag from Microsoft Office.? Just tried to open a document and all I get is this BS about upgrading or buying more apps. Tried to close it several times and it closes the page I am trying to open. Now I cannot open ANY Word Documents. W 10 and a paid for copy of Office (not 365). :banghead:

No, I still have my MOD (not moderator) user version of office, which works fine. However, on the granddaughter's machines Mr Don installed Office as a standard. Not at all expensive, and still very functional.

Don't forget "Open Office". It's free, it works and I would think powerful enough for most needing productivity software. Pete

 No, as government employee's we were able to purchase, at a highly discounted cost, a genuine copy for home use - one of the few perks we received.

TRUE brand Chromebook appear to be sold through Lazada at a reasonable price. Link below. Lazada also shows a Samsung Chromebook, but the price is 21,000 +. Pete

While I'm on the digital thread, I found something strange.
I bought a Samsung 75" smart TV a week or so ago. Connected it to the internet - no problem. Then I find that it has altered various settings on my laptop. It changed a 'Private Network' to a public one. I found that many 'buttons' were unclickable and my download speed had been cut by half.
Disconnected the TV from my wifi and some of the problems went away and others I fixed manually.
Fortunately, I don't need the 'smart' side of the TV as my laptop is permanently connected via an HDMI cable.
Can anyone explain this?

Kodi 17.6

Post by Davy B »

I am running Kodi 17.6 on two computers and I am having different problems on each one. Until now I choose to do manual installs myself from recommendations from ''experts'' via Google and add repositories and add ons for the ones I think are going to be of use. I had a period of about 6 months where I paid little attention to Kodi and in the meantime , obviously, things move on and repos and add ons ceased to work. I decided to clear as much as I could out from one computer and installed the Titanium Build and populated it with recommendations from fairly recent repos and add ons (June 2018). However, here is my problem, some repos would not load up, some installed ok but some of the recommended channels would not open giving a varied list of error messages - such as Failed to install dependencies and other related ones. Googling the problem has made it 10 times worse, because all the so-called ''fixes'' have sorted absolutely nothing. One suggestion was to install a Log Reader, which I have done, and the list of problems and errors is longer than the Petchkasem Road, and anything and everything I have tried does not get rid of the errors and I don't think it is possible to clear them other that sort them out individually. It really is not worth the hassle. Hopefully there is someone with a lot more knowledge about this than I have, out there willing to help me out. I have now realised why I have left Kodi alone for so long when tv shows, films and sport can be obtained for other sources, but I am kind of hooked to it but these errors are a deal breaker!!!

I've been using the Misfit Mods repo for some time now but have given up on it recently as very few of the streams play any more.

When downloading the repos I found they would only install if the antivirus software was disabled. You could give that a try but it wont solve the dead streams issue.
