Computer service and repairs in Hua Hin?
Computer service and repairs in Hua Hin?
Hi Does anyone know if there are people within the Expat community who will undertake home computer repairs, updates etc. Anyone who speaks also English. Maybe there are computer repair shops? Thanks Siani
Re: Computer service and repairs in Hua Hin?
we always deal with a Guy called Jump - Thai but he speaks very good english. He usually comes to the house has a look at the problem and either sorts it there and then or takes whichever laptop away and it comes back fixed a few days later unless he has to get a part from Bangkok.
Really nice guy and so far he has been able to sort every problem we have had. The price is also very good

I always use the computer shop next to Grand Market (by SP hospital) I think they do at home service also.

The place is called it-Pawin and is located next to the entrance to Grand Hotel on Petchkasem Road. They do an honest good try at fixing your problem but there are limits to the expertise.

A word of advice: if you do take your computer to IT Pawin or any similar store make sure you BACK UP YOUR DATA, these guys will just go ahead and format the thing nine times out of ten anyway. If you actually needed a re-installation (rather than a Windows fix) they'll also load it up with Thai software which is pretty much useless (unless you can read Thai).

Don't want to sound too paranoid but if you are sending your computer to a service such as has been mentioned, especially a Thai one, then perhaps you should download and use something along the lines of the link below. Some shops have a habit of sifting through all your documents and copying anything they want, there are of course many that don't but if you have pics/docs that you wish to keep private and away from the eyes of the like of who work at these serving centers then it might be a good idea to do the free download and employ it. The one below is fairly good, would have put this in the 'Free Sofware Recommendations' thread but is perhaps applicable here.

Just a interesting pricing exercise.. Several days I went to buy a specific hard drive - Seagate 320 GB SATA. I knew the approximate price from shopping in Bangkok. First off, IT Pawin near the Palace - Baht 2560, then IT Pawin near Villa - Baht 2400, InvadeIT Baht 1800 (available following day) and last, Banana in Market Village - Baht 1800, where I purchased said item. Interesting.. the two IT Pawin shops had different prices.

There's a fairly new computer sales/repair shop in Pranburi.
My gf went to buy a 4-port ADSL wireless router in HH and was quoted 2,500 baht.
I got it for 1,900 from the place in Pranburi.
They're going to quote me for a new quad-core computer so we'll see how the price comparison develops.
The owner of the shop speaks pretty good English, too.
