Young crew section

Post by olmate »

Ever thought of starting up a section for younger crew who visit HH.
Im asking cause the jist i get from the majority of regular posting members is that of an older crew. Im 28 and and i get a feeling most of you guys are older than that.
Im sure there are plenty of younger people who visit this forum or join but get scared off by some of the old skool opinionated views.
I myself am just curious and want to learn more, but it would be great if you could make this forum more attractive to the younger minded traveller who needs some sensible advice from the well travelled but would also like to hear opinions from people closer to there age. I get along quite well with people older than me but as every generation does we have different views ect. Maybe it would be good to give it a go and if it ends up shitehouse then close it up.

It has been said, the only thing constant is change.

I'm not electing to be your cheerleader  Olmate, but it seems like a great idea. Old school wisdom is good, however new school is sometimes better. It's up to the younger people of the world to initiate change. Most old fogeys are stuck in their ways......me included, I'm 61 yrs young :P

Not much older than you mate ... just give as good as you get and you wont go far wrong. Age aint nothing but a number...

That's a good idea olmate. However at 28 years old, you're too old to gain entry into a 'younger crew' section. :D

Yeh well young crew to me is under 30, BP's and the adventure traveller and the like.
Besides it would be good to hook up with people closer to my age and share similar views and opinions on HH.
Im not out to bag an older generation but with every generation there is a big gap in views towards life ect.
For example when i was 15 and wanted to meet my mate somewhere we would have to plan and organise a set time and place, whereas todays 15 year old just gives his mate a tingle on ye olde mobile and its sorted within minutes and half an hour later there up to mischief. Now for me the age of 15 seems not to long ago but that generation already sees me as an old bastard who has no idea about what its like to grow up in there world.
You know what, i totally agree with them, i had the same view as they now do. Can you remember back to that sweet age when you didnt give a rats ass about anything? Hey i still do now but as i get older i find im getting more conservative.

I think it's a good idea also. I admit that sometimes I go off the deep end with my criticisms and jai laun concerning my adopted country and, I guess that comes with age/time here. Fresh insight from those younger would be good. However, I think we should ask Guess and Lomu as I believe they are the oldest on here? :P  Pete

PS: Would old farts be allowed to post in this new section?

How would decrepit has beens in Early Middle Age (Thirty-somethings) like myself be policed and prevented from spewing their bitter judgements upon the naivety of The Young?

I think the forum is open enough without the need to formalise little cliques that are solely dependent on age. I think a whole new website aimed specifically at Young Tourists would be more appropriate than dividing this one up based on age! There - a free idea for the web geeks out there!

Hi Olmate,
I’ve been told by several bargirls that I look under thirty, even before I brought them a drink, would that do?

Lucky for you Steve, i get told im an old looking dood. But i do believe in-

Rule No 2-"Never believe everything a bar girl says"

Really anyone should be welcome to submit . Im sure not everyone who posts in ask the expats is an expat, i know im not and i have posted in that section maybe some people felt uncomfortable about that and would rather only expats post there ,but i never got a complaint.
I made this suggestion because as i have mentioned earlier most younger people have different opinions about LOS and where it is headed, and although they are quite welcome to post in most forums if they are a member they sometimes like to share and learn off people closer to there age rather than get a straight out beat down after they have stated an opinion based on a much lesser life experiance than someone of an older generation.
Now i have only been a member for a ST but have gained a mass of knowledge from the older crew on this forum this suggestion is not about creating some sorta divide between generations. It is more to encourage and invigorate discussion between younger people who visit HHAD. Discussion between people of a younger generation is something that seems to be lacking.

It could be interesting to have something for 'youngsters'.

When I first found this forum, I was a bit worried that it might just be '40+ folks or retired folks'. But I signed up anyways 'cause it's a good, informative forum IMO.
It's a small world after all...

40+?? I'm 36 & don't feel any different to when I was in my early 20's. Don't tell me I'm going to become old & boring when I turn 40, oh my buddha, 3.5 years left! :D

There a lot of places to go when your young. Hua Hin is a nice place to be if your slightly older and want peace and quite. Why do the young always want to be where the older people are? Im saddened with the influx of young 'oley oley oley' types. you have Phuket, Pattaya, Pii pii and all the rest why do you want to come to Hua Hin? Is no place safe for someone wanting peace and quite. Perhaps if we oldies go to Udon Thani the youngsters will follow and we can leave them there... he he he.
Its about time they stood on their own two feet and not followed the oldie crowd.

Maybe they'll be hunted out and consumed by a pack of bloodnut chewing old Thai women.

It is a little perverse to have to listen to the younger, tuned in, IT literate membership asking for their own page, please sir.

Just go do it! Theres surely a market for each and everyone in this must do / can do, age!

I'd never thought about how HH rated until Randy's post, but thinking about it, I guess the town just isn't aimed at the latest, look at us, this has never been done before, latest younger generation?

Maybe HH should be nicknamed, "Worthing-on Thai"?
