HHAD readership stats 2008

Post by Lev »

Here are some figures from our statistics server for the year 2008 that you maybe interested in. They are for huahinafterdark.com website, forum, property section and photo gallery combined.

Total Readers: 688,987
Monthly Average: 57,415.6
Daily Average: 1,887.6
Total Page Views: 5,546,609
Total Hits: 47,574,816

HHAD Current Forum Age: 6 years
Current Average Daily Posts: 51.89
Current Average Monthly Posts: 1,578.5
Current Average Monthly New Members: 54.76

HHAD grew by approximately 18.9% in 2008 from 2007 in terms of readership (we changed servers so 2007 stats are not fully reliable).

We look forward to getting even bigger in 2009 and thank all of our readers and contributors for your support.

Great figures Lev and very encouraging growth figures

Having trawled other Thai sites HHAD knocks the socks off them

Thanks Admin and mods

I know there are a few cantankerous old (and young) posters (me included) that stir it now and again but to me the forum is about open discussion and providing information from the people on the ground here

A successful spin off was the HHAD chat session at JW's where it was face to face and not keyboard to keyboard. Hope it continues
An interesting topic covered was the disintegration of the expat community. Obviously the growth of Hua Hin has had an effect but a face to face on a regular basis may bring it back

An interesting statistical analysis would be a breakdown of the posters/readers in terms of location, nationality etc. but I guess that is asking the impossible

They are both bigger forums with more readers as they cover the whole country, HHAD is just for Hua Hin so we mods are often completely baffled by the animosity HHAD gets from those two.

Congrats, well deserved.
Reckon a large slice of the success is due to the right balance of moderating.
Some of them other sites are a nightmare.

I think the HHAD forum is fantastic and it's managed very well. Full credit to the moderators who allow controversial subjects to be expressed where other similar forums would not allow.

I believe a large reason for the increase in stats are the number of views and contributors on the current affairs threads which even after getting removed from the 'top 15' posts at the front of the web page, continues to be very popular.

An unfortunate thing about some of the current affairs contributors, is the clique of what I can only describe as 'cyber bullies' who think its fair game to use any topic to have a personal dig at anyone who challenges their conventional, traditional views. I know of many would-be regular posters who have contributed to an interesting debate, only to be hounded off by these 'cyber bullies' who seem to take personal offence at anyone suggesting the world is not how they perceive it to be. The posters hounded off seldom return and the bullies remain to rule the roost.

A long while back I started a thread stating Global Warming was a scam and was shocked at the vitriolic aggressiveness I received. It got worse when the 9/11 debate got going, and I was labeled a conspiracy theory nutter. Having decided I would not allow myself to be intimidated by bullies, as the unconventional threads continued the aggressiveness has got worse. Of the hundreds of insults, I've been accused of being a hypocrite and a liar, have a racially motivated agenda, my posts are dissected for any flaws and are rudely described as mundane and boring, (but never ignored) I'm ridiculed, laughed at, I'm called a loony leftist and more recently there has been an dark concerted effort by the 'cyber bullies' to label me rascist (no doubt for daring to criticize the state of Israel which is created on racially superior apartheid foundations). The irony is it seems to be fair game on here to insult Arabs and Muslims as if they are third class people.

I can not understand why posters can make unfounded accusations such as accusing another member of being racist without any mod intervention unless of course the mods agree with them? I also think there would be more contributors if they were not opening themselves up to a barrage of hateful insults and digs every time they contributed something unconventional. I certainly feel its time I gave it a rest having got to the point where the harassment I have received has led me to want to 'rip someones head off'

Having said all that, sincere congratulations once again to an excellent, informative and well managed forum :thumb:

(snip)

And there's the rub, Jockey; amongst the snipers and baiting are some well made points that should be addressed, so the mods have to make a judgement as to what is allowed on both sides, as you and your critics have all made unwise comments that border breaking the T & Cs in these threads, that cause offence - if we take action the threads die, if we don't we get the sort of accusation you have just made - you can't have it both ways. If you dish it out you have to be prepared to take it as well. Controversial subjects inevitably bring with them polarised views, and I think Mr Plums most recent post on the Gaza thread should be the way everyone handles themselves on here. I have PM'd you so please take note of that and this post so we can retain your unique style and interesting views - no one, not even your 'fan club' actually wants to see you hounded off the forum.

They must be worried about something. Should feel good that you gents make them "hot and flustered" about HHAD, a sign that it's working. Also a sign of worry that you are serious present/future competition, IMO.

Maybe that's were all the non-participating "lurkers/watchers" come from?

 Good stats, good luck!
