Re: Moving Hua Hin Forum to a smaller site (HHF2): Poll

Post by caller »

A question for Lev, Buksi or the mods. Is it possible that relevant, ongoing active 'sticky's' could be retained in some format or other, within the framework of the new forum? Just the most recent, relevant data, not page after page of now outdated information, even if by cut and paste?

Thanks

The Binta bar map was last updated in 2018, its still online here: https://www.huahinforum.com/viewtopic.p ... &start=222
The earlier ones were on the HHAD site and have been lost (I'll have a look in the archives, though.)

Yes, the new forum will have some of the main topics taken over and restarted to create the framework, and you'll be able to copy what you want from here and post it there when it is launched - its too much work for the mods to do and, as you say, a lot of the info is dated and irrelevant now.

I've probably still got the source files for earlier maps, but they'd only be 2013 or 2014. Nothing near as old as 2003-2006. Let me know if you'd like them.

Just a reminder that we're almost ready to launch and will be announcing the new HHF2 link next week.

Unfortunately, as Lev has said. The new forum is free and will have some minor restrictions. However, it will do all of the essentials.

^Will we still be able to post photos?
As long as you can do that, I don't think you really need much else.

We will, but size needs to be kept small. I think Lev has stated there will be periodic culls on photos to keep the forum running. However, even if a photo is deleted, a small thumbprint will remain on the post forever.

Personally, I will try to link to photos to try to ease the burden on the new software. Of course, there will need to be photos on threads like Caption Competition.

Things like cinema listings and football results will switch to listings, rather than photos. We'll all be learning together for a weeks, and mistakes will be inevitable.
