I've checked the link that you advised. It says 'Grumpy old men club' and it looks like I can not join that gathering as I'm not a man and I think I can say that I'm not that old or grumpy yet. :-)
Just give yourself a few more years living here... you'll be old before your time and grumpy as well! I was a happy-go-lucky guy before I moved here... now I'm a complaining, miserable, arsehole! :D
Very true hhfarang. I have seen it happen to the most laid back, easy going guy that you would ever meet. I think it is to do with the standards that your were bought up with, and it very difficult to lower those standards / ingrained ways.

Agree aswell on that one HHF. I'm not old but can be grumpy/negative having never been like that before. The optimism of youth is soon beaten to death over time.

The pros certainly outweigh the cons here but what makes me grumpy is the apethy and lies encountered on such a grand scale, all the time.

I guess that's what I'm not used to and never will be.

 , sorry, :offtopic: , weekly meetings.

the term "Grumpy Old Men" was borrowed from a light entertainment program on the UKs BBC2...you dont have to be grumpy old or male at all. Bored, sociable and in need of a chin wag were the only qualifications.

Mark me down for the next one....I owe Bill a beer from around Christmas time anyway and its always good to meet new faces.

See you on the 29th.

Great! :D Next one will be on 29 April 2009. Will post about new venue later. Then hope to see you on 29 April with your friends.

Ciao.

Ok, 29th it is. If you could post the venue for the 29th before I leave on 24th that would help as may not log on once I'm in Thailand.

Look forward to seeing you.

April 29 Gathering

Post by multi_talent2 »

I've been in touch with Newlife. She just wanted me to remind the community about the Ye Olde Buffalo Tavern gathering Wednesday, April 22, at 8 PM. The April 29 gathering, according to Newlife, will be at Lost, an authentic British pub, complete with real pints of Guinness. Lost is located in Takiap. If you're coming from town and driving towards the Hyatt Regency Hua Hin, it's located on the left side of the road, before the Hyatt, but after the 7-11. Newlife plans to take a picture and post it up online. She'd like it if the folks here posted interest in attendence.

Newlife, did the gatherings turn out successfully? Once I have moved down to HH later this year from the darkest Isaan I would be interest to join in.

Next gathering: May 27, 8 PM, PAPA JOHN'S GRILL

Post by multi_talent2 »

Newlife's internet isn't working. She asked me to post. It was decided that the next one would be May 27 at 8 PM, as a # of regulars said May was a busy time for them and would only be available at the end of the month. As a visitor to the last few, they've been attended but not to the extent the Hua Hin community COULD support them. PAPA JOHN'S GRILL in Takiap was the agreed-upon venue. You'd go south from town and pass the Hyatt on your left and continue into Takiap. Papa John's is on the right and can't be missed.

The venues that are picked are chosen because they're big enough and not clique-ish. For the record, when PAPA JOHN's was agreed upon, no one had ever been there before and felt it was worth giving the place a shot.

People've been bringing their significant others, and some have multiple others.
