Get Together and Meet New Friends-Weekly Gathering

Post by newlife »

Hi to everyone!

It's been 2 years around since I started to live here and one day I've realised I don't have that many friends here.

Somebody saying 'never too late'. So here, would like to throw some opportunity for those like me, who want to meet new friends. No age limit. No gender restriction. Open to Thais and expats. Every Wednesday at 800pm. Just show up with small money for your drinks.

Here first batch goes.
Date: 22nd April 2009
Time: 8pm
Venue: Ye Olde Buffalo Tavern (http://www.huahinmedia.com/buffalo-tavern.php) Thought it's okay location and reasonable price. will change venue every week.

Please put your ID after me if you plan to show up.

A Weekly Venue Is One Dandy Little Idea!

Post by multi_talent2 »

Sign me up. Your idea to do a different venue every week and really get to see Hua Hin and meet the cross section of its population at the same time is so simple and sensible, so why hasn't anyone thought of it before?

Different venue and Different Type of Gathering

Post by newlife »

Hi Big Boy.

Thanks for input.

I've checked the link that you advised. It says 'Grumpy old men club' and it looks like I can not join that gathering as I'm not a man and I think I can say that I'm not that old or grumpy yet. :-)

The gathering that I've posted is open to everyone who can drink legally ;-) including tourists, residents, locals, expats, women, men, young, old, single, married etc.

I just want to try it before I give up, saying it's hard to meet friends here. I will arrange this gathering 5 times. If it doesn't work, at least I would have no regrets.

Hope you can join.

I would love to join - unfortunately I'm still a wannabe expat at the moment. Too far to travel for a night out.

Good luck in your venture - you seem to be gathering support rather quickly at the moment - let's hope they turn up for you.

Hi newlife,

I don't qualify as an ex-pat, but have been to HH many times on visits. If it ever becomes simple for a farang to legally own his house and the piece of land it sits on, I'll be there like a shot.

But, as you suggest a weekly get-together, I'm a Brit and arriving in Hua Hin on April 25th with 3 mates for 10 nights. If you have a get-together the following week, I'll attend as a prelim for the nights activities and maybe some or all of my mates will come too (if invited of course). According to my mates I'm an "old scrote" though 2 of the others are quickly approaching that landmark too!!

Cheers,

Dave

Great idea. I am in UK until mid May but will definately come to the first available one on my return. Will you be publishing venue and time each week on this site ?
I have also lived here for almost 2 years and have a lot of very good Thai friends but not many falang ones so it will be nice to meet up with some new faces. :D

:o This is how the expat associations started in Bangkok and Pattaya, just a few expats sitting around having a drink, and we all know how big and influential the association is in pattaya.

good luck.

Just give yourself a few more years living here... you'll be old before your time and grumpy as well! I was a happy-go-lucky guy before I moved here... now I'm a complaining, miserable, arsehole! :D
