The Chiang Mai CM108 Facebook page posted images of water flooding into Chiang Mai city center after the flood barrier at Kad Luang (Warorot Market) collapsed. Floodwaters have reached Kaeo Nawarat Road and the Youth Court intersection.

Chiang Mai Governor Nirat Pongsitthithaworn revealed that after midnight, entering Saturday, October 5, the Ping River water level was at 5.21 meters and is likely to rise further. This is faster than the Royal Irrigation Department's prediction that it would reach 5.20 meters at 2 AM.

He further stated that, looking at the water situation from Mae Taeng, Mae Rim, Chiang Dao, and Phrao districts flowing into the city, Chiang Mai residents will have to deal with this flood for more than 3 days, possibly 4-5 days. Officials will try to drain the water as quickly as possible.

This is a sad ongoing story at the moment. Some reports indicate that some elephants drowned as they were chained and keepers couldn't get to them to release them. :(

Flooding in Cha-am, Hua Hin

https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/ge ... am-hua-hin. (Photos)

Persistent rain has caused flooding 20-40 centimetres deep in Cha-am district of Phetchaburi and Hua Hin district of Prachuap Khiri Khan, and on nearby sections of the Phetkasem Highway.

Downpours hammered both towns from about 4am on Wednesday. In Cha-am. There was flooding in the municipal area and municipal market and on roads leading to Cha-am beach.

In Hua Hin, heavy rain led to a buildup of water on a two-kilometre-long section of Phetkasem Highway, but it drained quickly and roads were dry by 10am........

On Saturday night, October 19, heavy rain fell in Uthai Thani province, causing flash floods to overflow into many areas, especially in Ban Rai district. The water current was very strong, sweeping cars away with the flow and destroying several buildings.

A Facebook user named Phimphat Manlachet, whose house is located opposite Ban Rai Temple, posted a video clip showing the flash flood rushing in and demolishing the entire stretch of the temple wall.
