^ That's interesting. You change your signature tag line and the new one gets applied to all the old posts as well. Is that a feature or a bug, I wonder?
@JamesWest I liked your old signature, shame you couldn't live up to it. Pretty difficult though.
I guess 7-11 sells what people will buy (sugary and/or salty) so can't really blame them. Still it's nice that they do sell a few useful things. Individual bananas is one item that springs to mind. Beer is another.

Re: How Many Frickin' 7/11s Are They Going To Build?
About five years ago I was working in Somerset, which is a backwater in the South West of England, when at a safety meeting the number 7-11 came up in a procedue about aircraft, someone I'd never met before said "bing-bong" quitely under his breath. I hunted him out afterwards and found out he used to have a bar in Phuket!JamesWest wrote:

Cannot understand why 7/11 issue is annoying for you? You obviously do not have a "commercial" mind.
The reason WHY sometimes the same shops are opening in very close proximity to each other is simple - to prevent a competition. It happens everywhere around the World.

Re: How Many Frickin' 7/11s Are They Going To Build?
7/11s don't annoy me, I think they're great. Back in Europe I often work six days a week in a country where the shops close in the evenings and on Sundays and I get to find a shop open about once a month, you're never in that situation in Thailand.
Re: How Many Frickin' 7/11s Are They Going To Build?
You all know the Thai Business Model by know...
Find a sucessful shop and build an identical one right next to it. Assuming the new shop shares half of the first shop's customers, that will ensure that neither make enough to keep them both econonically viable... Just brilliant...!
The next time you drive pass the Ducati dealer on the P/kasem at Baan Khwai (about 8 kms south of Cha Am) on the sea side, see if you can spot the hidden Family Mart... It's hard to see even from a Fino! When we spotted it one day, we had no idea how long it had been open. Great thinking again - let's open a business near the P/kasem that no-one can see from the P/kasem! Why?

It has nothing to do with not having a commercial mind. If you read my previous post you will notice that I said it's good business, but it's good for the CP group, not so good for the unlucky person who bought into the franchise, only to have another one open a few meters down the road.
Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact
