Hua Hin Country Club

Post by huahin8888 »

I have been asked to consult on the building of a country club that would sit on a roughly 2500sqm. plot of land, 20m from the beach, near HH 96 alley and to develop that into a members (not only) country club with western & Thai type all day dining restaurant, sport facilities, event/party rooms/decks, kite surfing equipment shop, kids playground, kid & adult swimming pools. Nothing too high profile or pricey but delivering a quality/value for money hub for HH residents, their guests/friends and BKK week enders.
Would love to hear some feedback about what sort of services and activities would be welcomed to existing HH residents, what sort of facilities/service you would expect to find and if at all, you might find such a product to be of interest.
I do not live in Thailand and your feedback/comments/questions is appreciated, thank you .

it would be of interest to me as i have a young family.
But for it to be successful it would have to target thai families as well, hua hin has a very small number of fulltime expats living here(about 4000)so the off season is very quiet.
A good carparking area, would be good too,if targetting young families,we need somewhere to park.

Are you sure the land size is just 2500 m2.
Because with everything that's planned, including "sports facilities", I can't see how you're going to fit everything in!

i just read that 80% of visitors to HH are Thai. And the Thais seem to have their version of hip or trendy.

I think you have it covered for facilities.

I am a American from California. I would try to provide as much sea view as possible (even if I had to go up three stories to get it) with both indoors with air con and outdoor seating.

Weather here is brutal with very high temperatures and humidity. I would design with almost 100% shade, (Thai woman hate the sun) attention to position of the sun, (almost overhead all day as HH is 12 degrees north.)

The pool needs to have a shadow cast over it in late afternoon, or all day if possible. 4:00 pm until sunset is the prime time at the beach for Thais. design for that.

State of the art mosquito abatement. Very important.

Traffic and parking is already impossible in HH so maybe underground, but that close to the shore it may not be possible. Or a satellite parking lot with shuttle.

Thais like private rooms for birthdays, a stage with lights and sound system, a dance floor.

Food is going to be the draw for expats and non Thais. There is tremendous competition at every price point in the restaurant business in HH.

And does the the vibe of the management say Thais only? This is important because English is not always spoken or no English menus at many upscale Thai places in Hua Hin.

I think most expats living in HH are 60 years old and up. Once you put children in the mix, the vibe changes and it becomes upscale Thais with their families.

For me getting away from children, a nice sea view, the exclusive club thing might be fun but only if they can make a proper martini, (not possible in HH) and the best food in town would make it worth while.

MATLOT, THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST. WHAT IS THE GYM SITUATION IN HH AT THE MOMENT? DO YOU PURCHASE MEMBERSHIPS IN INDIVIDUAL GYMS/HOTEL GYMS OR OTHERS? HOW ARE THE FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENTS? WHAT IS MISSING? IS YOGA IMPORTANT? YOU MENTIONED THE LACK OF PROPER TRAINERS; IS THAT BECAUSE THERE ARE NO PROPER GYMS IN HH? THANK YOU FOR YOUR FEEDBACK, MUCH APPRECIATED!

WHAT ARE MORE SPORT/GYM .. OR OTHER ACTIVITIES THAT MAY BE OF INTEREST?
- Local sports club sponsorships to bring people together?
- Wine tastings/wine dinners/food and beverage promotions
- Foreign movie nights?
- Art exhibits
- Cooking classes/demos?
- Pool/bridge/darts/bingo competitions
- Kid/adult classes (diving/kiting/martial arts/arts'n crafts/ballet/pottery/swimming lessons/language lessons etc.,) outside of the "school" or "home" arena …

Interesting,i wonder if this is new project is going to be in competition to the New Country Club being currently developed, and constructed in soi112,although obviously on a lesser scale. The project in soi112 is being advertised throughout Bkk,a massive bill-board after Asok-Montri and Sukumvit highlights all the details.

Hua Hin Country Club

I do see that place when I drive up to Banyan and wonder what on earth are they trying to achieve?

An inland marina or something similar I think?
