Best beaches round the HH area ??
Can any of you locals tell me where are the best beaches (and how to get there !) in the Hua Hin area ?
Thanks.
Thanks.

This has come up several times before, there is more info here: http://www.tourismhuahin.com/beaches-huahin.php

The beaches in HH and this part of Thailand are just sort of OK... nothing to write home about.
the best beaches are south of HH. Get a scooter and drive south out of town until you get to Soi 101. (About 20 minutes from Market Village.) Use extreme caution as the road south of town has very dangerous traffic. At Soi 101 you will see a 7/11 and a stand that sells really good fried chicken. Make a left turn. go until you see a lake near a temple. to your left is a beach. turn to the left on any soi. look around there to the north back towards HH. Check out the temple on the hillside from the beach. very small fishing village.
then on to another beach:
once you reach the front of the temple with the lake on your right, go down the narrow path on your scooter that follows the lake shore line until you come out on the other side on the road, make a left turn and go until you hit the coast.
Look out for jellyfish, there are still a few after the thousands from the last few weeks. 18" wide ones here and there. I would wear flip flops as the beaches are filthy everywhere in the HH area. Stay away from creeks and any water that is flowing into the ocean. Stay off of the rocks as they are covered in oyster shells that are razor sharp.
or just go to the Hilton and start walking south.

^^What JamesWest is trying to say is go to Kao Tao or Hat Sai Noi.
Best not to use that lakeside track unless you're really comfortable with riding a motorcy.

Prefer Khao Takiab, the two above mentioned stink! As in smelly!

My favourite beach in the HH area is at Khao Kalok. Nice beach, clean sea and fairly clear and plenty of places to get food and drink just across the road from the beach. There are also a couple of nature trails leading up onto the headland now, next to the beach. Deck chairs can be rented at the main beach entrance. Down side for some people is, its a 30/40 minute drive south of HH.properperson wrote:Can any of you locals tell me where are the best beaches (and how to get there !) in the Hua Hin area ?

Travel 60/70 minutes south on route 4 to Prachuap kiri khan and Ao Manao and the sea is crystal clear and a long beautiful beach. Food, drink and seating amenities close by, along with clean toilet/wash/showering facilities very close by.
I hope this is of help to you guys.

Went to Hat Sai Noi recently and fell in love with it. Just got to check it out at high season but I can't see it getting crowded as it's a little and out of the way.

One of the nice beaches I visited last year was south of Hua Hin,
and near one of the Royal properties.
Something Yai, if I remember right.
Had a great lunch there and enjoyed the beach for about 2 hours.
I plan to go again the next time I visit the Hua Hin area.

Lot of construction work going on there now, so it's not so idyllic as it was last winter, but still nice enough.dtaai-maai wrote:^^Hat Sai Noi
