I had just started bike riding with sarge and his wife
,he would ride from his home in pranburi, meet me at khao kalok, then we would ride a 25km round trip to sam roi yod.He would continue home after leaving me,i figured he was doing an extra 15kms more than me..not bad for a bloke 20 years my senior!!.
It was always an interesting journey listening to sarges non stop stories of his days before and during thailand
Of course we had to stop every 10kms or so,so he good have a smoke, but apart from that he was in good nick.
he had been knocked down a few times by ex wives, but was madly in love with his "sweet cheeks" as he called her,and was not going to let passed bad experiences with ladies stop him from trusting and loving his "sweet cheeks".
He was looking forward to moving to his land futher north and building a home..not so much for himself but for his wife...he wanted to make sure she was going to be ok when he finally kicked the bucket..........
I only had the pleasure of 2 entertaining rides with dave
but he came across as an intelligient, loving and genuine knock about bloke
and i am glad i can call him my friend
r.i.p.

RIP Sarge

Never met him but when I posted questions regarding my MIL health issues he was quick to answer and offer help.

It seems in concert with what I picture him that one of his latest posts was of a heart attack and how they were a big hassle! Sure sounds like him!

At 6am I got the call that we all dread....

I knew right away that someone was dead......

Through tears of grief and a heavy heart.....

Mrs Sarge told me it was his time to depart......

It was time for me to do my part.....

I wont blow smoke out his @rse......

Cos the type of man he was.....

He would just come back to haunt my ass......

Sarge.....

RIP my brother......

We will meet up again at the great Re-org.....

Condolences to your Family back in the UK and the love of your life here in Thailand......

RIP soldier.......o7......I didn't always agree with what you wrote, but you certainly had character and that goes a long way these days in a world of superficialness.....there are fewer and fewer of this type now...regretably.

I only know Sarge through the forum.
Had we met, I think I would have liked him.
To me, he appeared to be quite a character.
He had a good sense of humour, seeing the funny side in a lot of situations and didnt seem to take himself overly seriously.
He always came across as a loving husband and im sure 'sweet cheeks' will miss him terribly.
My heartfelt condolenses to his wife and family.

I'm shocked and saddened to hear that Sarge is gone. We met years ago when Billy and I did those god awful visa runs to Ranong. He was a guy I would dexcribe as 'sound as a pound' and did indeed have a good heart. He called a spade a spade, never made a big deal about all the help he gave to his 'tin shack' people by the tracks, and was a great support to me two years ago when we took Billys' ashes out to sea.

Rest in peace Sarge - you will be sadly missed.
