New Book Shop - Blue & Yellow
Re: New Book Shop - Blue & Yellow
thanks kateb, I thought I saw a small library in a map jack link but I can`t find it
Re: New Book Shop - Blue & Yellow
Hua Hin Library at the station
Re: New Book Shop - Blue & Yellow
If you're talking about a public library, I thought there was one on Nebkahardt Road just north of Chomsin. My wife used to get books there.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Yes there is, but I doubt that you will find any English or other language books in it.hhfarang wrote:If you're talking about a public library, I thought there was one on Nebkahardt Road just north of Chomsin. My wife used to get books there.

Where is the Blue & Yellow shop?
The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.
Re: New Book Shop - Blue & Yellow
It's about 150-200 yds down from the Tessabahn building on Petchkasem Road. On the western side, heading south.

I have been patronizing this shop since it opened. This is now the third owner and seems like a nice guy. The staff is still not very friendly or helpful. I do have a major complaint that I had mentioned to the owner. Previously all the books were filed alphabetically by author. Now they are somewhat filed just alphabetically. I dont know about anyone else but there are thousands of books and I do not have the time or patience to look through every book to find a new book. The girls working there are always sitting around eating or doing nothing. Maybe the owner if enough people complain he will have the girls work organizing the inventory. I went yesterday and walked out after 5 min very frustrated.

Tend to agree with Foodie,
Its a good little shop but all the books just seem be thrown in together and its takes quite some time going through them all. would be great if they could arrange by genre but put perhaps we're asking for too much. Have bought about five from there now and about 140 to 180 baht per book

Well, that`s a P in the A. I have used the shop since the original owner opened it and have always found it easy to find books. It must have changed hands in the last 6 or 8 weeks, as the last time I was there I asked the girl where a certain author section was, and she took me straight to it.
The stock was well sorted out, why the hell change it?

I never believed I'd say this, but... GET A KINDLE!
This is the way
Re: New Book Shop - Blue & Yellow
Oh no, changed owners! I stopped in to dump a big load of books when we were moving and I didn't have time to shop so they gave me a credit slip for a large amount of baht for the books for my next visit. That was over a year ago and I'm reading my last book now so I was about to go use that credit. I bet the new owner will not honor it.

Re: New Book Shop - Blue & Yellow
hi
I havent used Blue & Yellow since December as iv been getting a much better deal at the small shop behind Grand Market (soi 86)....last week i took him 5 books i had finished and picked out 2 new ones...i was hoping we would call its evens...imagine my suprise when he gave me 160 bahts as well!
note - he is trying to keep the quality up, so 99% of the time doesn't accept books with spinal damage...however he does have a 'end of the line' shelf where books are 40 - 100 bahts and non-returnable.

When nosy expats ask how can i live here without working, i reply, 'well, while you worked hard for 50 years, i worked smart for 5 years'

Re: New Book Shop - Blue & Yellow
I'm thankful for the bookshop (here it comes) but, it's poorly organized: alphabetically split up between opposite sides of the store, as in, you'll find the "A's", etc. on both sides. fiction and non-fiction mixed together, authors in 2 to 3 different places and some days an arrogant male farang working there. you'll have to look at every title to find something specific and sometimes there's a hassel with trade ins. one day they didn't want to take a book because I hadn't purchased it there. which taken to it's logical conclusion would mean that they never get any new books. also they won't trade if the publishing date is more than 15 years old so if you're planning to trade it back look at that.
I've heard that there's another used book store but I haven't been able to find it, anyone know it's name and location?

There is a cafe on the "roundabout" in front of the station that has a lot of books which I understand you can trade or buy. The owner is very pleasant and speaks some English. It is in the row thar runs parallel to the wagons in the centre of the roundabout.
