Re: Student protests in Thailand

I guess the Junta is trying to "cut off the snake's head", as they see it, by strong-arming them to see how serious the students are. It's a risky move as it will either make the protest fizzle out or make them worse by justifying the students' stance ... personally, I think it's a mistake...

Re: Major companies/industries in Thailand that may not survive Covid-19

As a casual observation, with gold prices rallying like they are and investors/people trying to find safe havens (like precious metals or the Yen etc.) to park their money, that tends to signal that a big problem/collapse is coming ... rough seas are ahead and few seem to have grasped how bad it cou...

Re: General Health Tips and Discussion

Funny you mention sleep as I've just bought a new mattress whilst the local mall was having a fire-sale and picked up a 40k baht mattress by Dunlopillo for 15k. The difference is unreal and should have done it ages ago but it's just not something that was a burning priority and has drastically impro...

Re: General Health Tips and Discussion

I have started buying those whey protein drinks from the local mall and 7-11 to drink after doing a 4km walk etc. Seems like I can't go wrong for 40-50 baht a pop as this whey protein is well absorbed by your body.

Re: General Health Tips and Discussion

Nice one there HHTel for that ... certainly true on the exercise front and the healthy diet thing has much to bring up and talk about too. Another thing I've rediscovered as an easy health addition with good benefits is cashew nuts ... awesome all round, packed full of stuff, especially with vitamin...

General Health Tips and Discussion

I think a thread for this would be good for things that aren't worth starting a new thread over. If you come across a decent health tip that is relevant to folks out here, then post it and discuss it. There are obviously many but I think it would be good to have an index of them and thoughts on agre...

Re: History Challenge & Journal

They may have done so initially, but what they are famous for is shaving blades. If you look at pictures of soldiers and burly men pre-WW1, then everyone had a beard/stash or whatever in photos ... but once WW1 turned up and they started gassing each other then you couldn't have a beard etc. as you ...

Re: History Challenge & Journal

OK, as a history question then. How did the company Gillette become successful and famous and who/what were they supplying to make it happen and the 'why' story behind it?

Well, as a fan of the movie I'll say it was Menelaus of Sparta.

Re: Covid19 - updates on immigration and visa extensions

Personally, I'm not taking the risk and will do the reporting and extension when due. I simply don't trust these "announcements". Agree, I'm doing the same and just doing everything as normal as I too don't want to hear about a sudden 180 decision by some jobsworth at immigration that wan...

Re: Red Bull exec's kid arrested for fatal running over of cop

Maybe it's just the cynic in me but the timing of the announcement looks impeccable and premeditated too ... on a Friday just before the a long weekend when everyone has their minds on other things like visiting family etc. Bunch of crooks.

Re: Red Bull exec's kid arrested for fatal running over of cop

As usual ... they have been opaque on this one. It is a shame that none of these so called journalists can come up with something like who actually made the decision and asked him why or for comment. All we get is some vague announcement from what seems like peons of the system who have been instruc...

Re: Which Pick-Up Truck?

If you are going for a pickup or SUV then I'd say Mitsu Triton or Pajero, hands down. I have a Triton from new and it's 10 years old with nothing go wrong at all other than the usual consumables ... Pajero is way more cost effective than it's peers and the MU7 weight is a shocker in comparison. As l...

Re: Thai hotels on the chopping block

"Little China" here we come........ Not just on this one but I can see thousands of Chinese workers streaming into Thailand to build this high speed rail line through Isaan up to the Lao border from BBK too. That's one of the caveats for those accepting such deals with the Chinese, is tha...
