Yes, a general rule of thumb is not to open anything you don't recognise or are not expecting - especially if it has a file attachment.

Re: In praise of Big Camera at Market Village

Nice one, did you happen to notice if they had (or could order) Nikon telephoto lenses?

Re: Cheapest desktop computer in the world?

Agreed, you can get a decent spec netbook for around 10k these days - I'll be going for one when my trusty Acer bites the dust, they're far easier to cart around.

Re: Which free mail provider most recommendable in Thailand?

Agree, Thunderbird rocks but I have never used it with those free webmail accounts. A more reliable email system would be one on your own domain and hosting account (then you'll have the frustrations of Hotmail and Yahoo blocking stuff now and then!).

Re: Which free mail provider most recommendable in Thailand?

The problem is with Thai internet providers, they are often blacklisted by 'free email providers' resulting in email not getting through - additionally they block port 25 for sending mail as highlighted in this thread: http://www.huahinafterdark.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2614 From my experi...

Re: The iPhone thread

Awesomeness ... Sharepod (http://www.getsharepod.com) does the job perfectly with no fuss, no updating or pissing about with playlists or iTunes - just add/remove songs direct from the hard disk to the device! (The only problem is that it still needs iTunes installed but that's not a problem if you ...

Just a young lad, like me, on the road to a sweet place, hell, even Buksi is older than us. Older than Baabaa definitely, but you I'm not so sure ... The turrists that kick off because the locals don't understand them always make me laugh ... "er, dude, you're in Thailand, try ...

 :cuss: :banghead: You know what this one is about ... :guns: iTunes. Can anyone direct me to an alternative way of simply copying some MP3's to my iPhone without using iTunes? Just a simple drag and drop, no fancy playlists, no changing album names, no rearranging my music collection, no dele...

Re: Hua Hin Golf Gossip

There is a big sign near Pae Mai that says something about four courses and 6,000 baht (naturally it was all in Thai). Didn't have time to get a pic as some loon in a SUV was millimeters from my bumper, does anyone know what this promotion entails?

Re: Access problems

This has been well documented, it occurs when there are too many people accessing the database. HHAD needs to be transferred to a better web host to prevent this occurring - I'm sure there will be notices on the board when this will happen.

It usually clears after a couple of minutes.

That's correct, Lenovo took over IBM's PC business a few years ago - the old 'Stinkpad' was a solid piece of kit!

Re: Cheapest desktop computer in the world?

Have used them also for bits that other stores won't stock such as heavy duty power supplies and after-market CPU coolers. They're not the cheapest in town (apart from that desktop probably), but do offer decent after sales service and actually answer their emails! Only recommendation I'd make on th...

Re: Cheapest desktop computer in the world?

The spec on that machine is about 3 years old by today's standard so yes it is cheap and will be fine for web surfing, email and word processing. You could probably buy the bits and build your own one if you wanted to save even more baht!
