Re: Reel to reel videos

You could try putting them in a room with a dehumidifier appliance operating or in a well air-conditioned room which will also have a lower humidity. Another way would be to use a dessicant, such as slica gel crystals, packed with them in a sealed bag or box. Let the video machine acclimatise for a...

Reel to reel videos

When I sold my place back home and came out here I brought a pile of reel to reel videos with me, films, music and some I had transferred from my viduo camera. I now find that these are all unplayable, presumably because of the condensation from the humidity. I assume that the Thai's used this forma...

Re: Are Prachuap and Hua Hin going to be 2 provinces?

Earlier this year there was a report in the Bangkok Post stating that the formation of a new province, comprising Hua Hin, Cha Am and Panburi, had been approved by parliament. They anticipated that it would probably be another two years before all the neccessary red tape had been finalised and it ac...

Re: Police knock bars back to midnight-closing

The first time this happened a few years back I was told that all the provinces top brass had come for a conference and some seminars, the local police chief at that time deciding to make a good impression by closing the bars at midnight in line with Bangkok. This happened again the foloowing two ye...

Re: RIP Alan Ross

After all the misunderstandings if finally turns out that the delay was because they had arranged for the funeral rites to be held before they had contacted the Canadian embassy, The embassy wished to contact Alan's family back in Canada first, to be certain that they were agreeable to the funeral r...

Re: RIP Alan Ross

Apologies for any misunderstandings on my previous poat, the message that reached me had been passed on and had lost some of it's true meaning in translation. I heard that the Canadian embassy were not happy with the doctors report but it seems that this was not because they were not satisfied with ...

Re: RIP Alan Ross

I just heard an hour ago that the cremation will no longer be held tomorrow as the Canadian embassy need to see a coroners report before they will let it go ahead. No reason given but I can only assume that there must have been an insurance policy involved that requires a full medical report. I too ...

Re: Fire near Dechanuchit Road

Isn't it two All Nations Guesthouses? One meant for farang guests in Dechanuchit Rd. and another one for Thais between Dechanuchit Rd and Chomsin Rd. I still believe it was the latter you now can consider as history. But; as I'm back in Hua Hin I'll go and check it up myself tomorrow. Correct. Owne...

Hi TJ, Many thanks for the advice. I spent the grand final last year searching HH for a bar and they were all showing the F1 GP. Most frustrating. You were probably there at the wrong time, Oz is three hours ahead of us and the last grand final I saw started about 1.00pm. The games, Friday night, S...

We got hit by the extra charge, didn't know it was to do with the band, thought it was just added VAT - maybe we got hit for both? I think the VAT/tax should be inclusive. I found the same in another bar a few years ago where the VAT appeared to be added on. Looking closer though I saw that the dri...

One surprising change is that the Spark Bar in Poolsuk Road is now the Hogs Breath Saloon.
It seems that the new owner is from the same family as the owner of the Hogs Breath in Bangkok and has been allowed to use the name for her bar

Re: Poolsuk Rd under attack every nte - every 3 minutes!

Margaret Carnes wrote, Quite how the present owner of LLs gets away with it is a mystery, given the history of Poolsuk. But also, given the history of LLs, maybe he isn't the owner at all. Just thinks he is [/quote] I remember seeing the actual owner of the properties when she used to call ...
