Not sure that's true. Both the MEA and PEA tariffs show peak and off peak rates.

Re: When was your first visit to Hua Hin?

I thought I'd already replied to this but scanning back through the thread, I can't see anything from me so here goes ... I can't remember exactly which year it was but my first visit to HH was not long after we got married, so around 1984 or '85. We stayed at the Royal Garden Resort which at that t...

Re: Kao's many meanings

Whereas in English, foreigners trying to learn the language face almost the opposite problem - letter combinations that are spelt (or spelled, if your prefer) exactly the same but pronounced totally differently. The classic example is "ough" which can be pronounced 9 different ways (if you...

Re: Renewing a UK passport in Thailand

So yes, based on that I do agree with what you're saying and I will inform visa lady that unless "not recognisable from previous photo" then countersignatory is not required for renewals. Thanks Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk Like @sateeb, I didn't use a countersignatory on my ren...

Re: Renewing a UK passport in Thailand

An interesting statement after (I think it was) spitfire said they are pretty anal about the photo: a device that takes digital photos (like a smartphone, tablet or digital camera) and someone to take your photo I used a selfie that I took with my smartphone for my passport renewal earlier this yea...

Regular Flu 2022

'Flu mutates all the time. We don't see the same level of concern to that. Probably because flu isn't as transmissible and doesn't kill anywhere near the same number of people. In the US, they had over a million deaths from Covid in a little over two years. Flu typically kills less than 60,000 per ...

Re: Flu vaccine in Hua Hin

For what it's worth. A friend in Sydney has been vaccinated against the flu, yearly, for the past 4 years, and every year he has had the flu. I guess it doesn't work for everyone. I've never been vaccinated and I've never had the flu. I shall assume, rightly or wrongly, that it's the functioning of...

Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand

No rain here. No surprise to many people on the forum. I'm being protected by my great umbrella...... lol Same here on 106 last night - incredible light show as others have mentioned, along with some incredibly percussive thunderclaps but no rain to speak of (just a few drops is all). Edit: Just no...

Re: Parking in Hua Hin

I used to use it regularly, but then the hotel stopped public parking. I've noticed recently that they are advertising it as a car park again, but since it stopped the public parking originally, I just don't go into the centre any more. Same here - we almost never go into the centre of town these d...

Re: TV series worth watching/downloading

Just started watching "Bosch Legacy." Anyone who enjoyed the original Bosch series will like this.

Also "The Lincoln Lawyer" based on the books from the same author (Michael Connelly) is worth a watch, IMHO.

Re: Thailand fuel/pump prices

Ouch, I've just topped the truck up - about 400฿ more than a couple of weeks ago, and I'm using diesel. You petrol guys must be really feeling it. I am, but I'm just glad that my car takes E85, so at least I'm using the cheapest type of petrol. It's small comfort though - I'm also paying about 400 ...

There's a place in the basement of BlúPort called OK Mobile that provides these services. I've used them a couple of times recently.

Re: News of the Weird - this just in!

Reminds me of a famous poem from my youth - "The Lion and Albert." It goes, in part, like this: Now Albert had heard about lions, How they was ferocious and wild. To see Wallace lying so peaceful, Well... it didn’t seem right to the child. So straight ‘way the brave little feller, Not show...

Re: MRI Scan in Hua Hin

Hua Hin Hospital apparently has an excellent diagnostic imaging department. According to what I've been told by a friend who because of various health issues, has used all of the the hospitals in Hua Hin extensively, they actually have a better range of more up-to-date equipment than Bangkok Hospita...

Re: Thailand Floods 2022

Dark clouds still covered Greater Bangkok on Friday, after heavy rain in the small hours of Wednesday caused widespread flooding that paralysed morning traffic in northern and eastern districts of the capital. Yes there was, and every one of them came from the east, not the Monsoon! There is still ...
