There are several preserved steam trains still running in Thailand. The following is just one of them:

Re: Govt prepares for Songkran traffic chaos
From where I am around Sukhumvit 48 / 50 there is no sign of the returning hordes. I can see both Sukhumvit and the first stage expressway, and both are deserted. Dread to think just how it will be when the traffic starts to hit the city area.

Re: Swiss Sheep Farm, Cha-Am
They may well be taking care of the sheep, but there is at least one young idiot there that is damn lucky he did not get my walking stick wrapped around his head. One of the horses used for riding would not do as he demanded, mainly because of the way he was going about it. He then wacked it over th...

Re: News of the Weird - this just in!
The wife heard/read on the Thai news that on Tuesday a PTT station in the middle of Rayong city filled their diesel tank with E85. Apparently 100+ cars filled up before it was discovered. I would imagine that those 100+ drove about 2km and then stalled out. That area of Sukhumvit highway an...

What the diagram doesn't show is after Petrol you would have AF or Aviation Fuel with a higher octaine value. Not sure just what aeroplanes you fly kendo, but the fuel used in piston engined aircraft is usually referred to as "avgas". It is just "petrol" with after refining addi...

Re: Minivan, bus and road accidents
I just drove back from the north via some secondary roads, although some of them were 4 lane highways. Right smack in the middle of a small village on a 2 lane road a pickup truck had hit Christ only knows what, as I did not see another vehicle. The cab on the drivers side was completely flattened b...

Re: WWII Bomb Explodes at Junk yard in Bang Khen
Thank you Mags, but I was quite aware of the Japanese occupation. It's the allied attacks that have come as the surprise. I will watch that BBC4 documentary later today. I guess this should have a thread of its own, but as others have wandered off: Last week I took my Granddaughter to see the follo...

Re: Insect Killer
They are Thai mosquitoes, no problem............................mosquitoes are not as far as I know although that odd stupid one may fly into it by accident.
The one I have is called a "Black Hole" and works for mosquitoes. Bought from Home Pro several years ago.

Any recommendations, please? I have not used him myself, but one of the pool contractors uses him. Last shop in the block of shophouse in front of Index Mall, heading in to town on Petchkasem Rd. He shares the shop with an automotive guy, so there may be some cars or trucks parked in front of it. :...

Bangkok waste dump fire
This has been going on for the past week. Although it is some distance from where I am, we can smell the smoke in the evening as the wind swings around to the south. In fact, it woke me up a few nights ago at 3-00 am, even with the room closed and the air con on. But a typical example of what goes o...
