Re: Best pizza in Hua Hin?
Does anyone else make their own pizzas? I like mine better than anything I've ever eaten in town, but tastes vary and that's the beauty of making your own. Yes I do, and agreed you can get exactly what you want, using local ingredients I love to get a Thai twist. Highly recommend the mozzarella fro...

Re: Poll: Thailand growing more unhappy as cost of living so
I fully agree about making comparisons. The "community" on this forum is made up of people who have lived here for a good many years, some who are much more recent arrivals, some who may be contemplating moving here, many who are regular visitors and some who have probably never been here ...

Re: Trips back to native country
I'm THINKING of a 3 week trip back to London in mid August (after the Olympics) having not been back for 3 years I would appreciate some help regarding the best way of booking flights, recommended airlines etc. Obviously the cheaper the better and a few hours stop over no problem Richard, this has ...

Re: Your solutions on 3 million baht to find longevity here
Dannie I think it is a 'bond' that matures after 13 months. I don't think it pays 8% after the 13 months are over but pays you out your investment plus interest and you have to start again. :thumb: Thanks Pagey, I will check next time I am there but if that is the case then probably not worth the b...

Re: Your solutions on 3 million baht to find longevity here
Dannie : The Thai deposits at Kasikorn I looked at recently were not 8% p.a. but a stepped %age. I can't remember the figures but it's for example 1% for the first 3 months, 2 % for the next 3 months, 4% for the next 3 months and 8% for the last 4 months so maybe averaging 4 or 5% over a year so no...

Re: Your solutions on 3 million baht to find longevity here
What many of these posts have to do with the the OP completely eludes me. :? Dannie Boy, and others for that matter: you do not have to register, or become involved with the tax man, with interest earned on deposit accounts at a Thai Bank. It is taxed at source by the Bank, and you will not even se...

Re: Help Is ther two Sukwilai Hotels ??
The one charging 1150 a night is relatively new and whilst I haven't stayed there would imagine it has better facilities than the older one.

Re: Your solutions on 3 million baht to find longevity here
A lot of useful stuff so far on here, cheers. As an aside, does anyone know anything about investing sums of the like mentioned (US$ 100K or more) in bank systems that may seem unconventional, like Central or South American/Chinese/Hong Kong/Thai or wherever banks? Am I right in thinking that when ...

Re: Poll: Thailand growing more unhappy as cost of living so
Just guessing, but I'd say the cost of living in Hua Hin has gone up at least 20% in the last nine years since I first came here... not on everything of course, but as an average as some things have doubled while others have only risen a bit. I noticed gas is higher than ever before here as I put m...

Re: Belgian beers
Thanks for that Dannie Boy. I guess my beer logic is flawed. I thought the alcohol content came from those little yeastie beasties eating the sugar and defecating alcohol so in my warped way of thinking, higher alcohol content should mean less sweetness as more of the sugar was turned into it. I'll...

Re: Belgian beers
The place I mentioned, The Lost Cafe in Takiab must have between 50 and 100 Belgian beers on the menu. That's where I had one last week that was 12% alcohol, served in what looked like a champagne glass and was so sweet it was like drinking a glass of dark honey. I know there must be some great one...

Re: Belgian beers
Are all Belgian beers dripping with sweetness? I remember going to a big beer tasting festival in San Francisco and finding some really good Belgian dark beers; however, every one I've tried here (in Thailand) is so sweet it could be considered a dessert. I've tried them in Bangkok and at Lost Cafe...

Re: Thai Microwave(Big paperweight/Clock)
TTJ
Seems pretty obvious to me that if it remains unused then the best thing to do is leave it unplugged - then there is no issue about the clock and having to reset it!!!
 Umm They the do use it as a clock is the reason I guess they like having it on :banghead: . I guess in t...

Re: Thai Microwave(Big paperweight/Clock)
Things in Thailand that make you wonder. O.K we should start at the start makes sense right? My wife choose to buy her mom(Old fashion Thai lady) A microwave so she could heat her tea water and reheat her food when needed. First of all that horde that is called my wifes closest family never leaves ...
