Re: Windows 10 Developments

A recent annoying development with Windows 10 and Windows Update: twice this month I was merrily using my computer and suddenly the WiFi connection dropped and wouldn't reconnect. Figuring something needed resetting, I rebooted and -- voila! -- the "Updating Windows" screen appeared advisi...

Re: The Home Air-Conditioner Thread

The trick with getting an inverter air con is getting the appropriate size, which is a question brought up in the opening post. Ideally you have an inverter unit sized so that the room is cooled down quickly and that then the outdoor unit (compressor) slows down to consume less electricity while mai...

Re: Hua Hin declared as a rabies stricken state

If an animal is in advanced stages of rabies where they are pretty much in a blind rage, would even a direct hit with a solid pole in any way deter them?

What on earth inspires a store's management to totally rearrange the merchandise? It's not like there's new square footage to increase amount of merchandise.

(Replying from another thread: http://www.huahinforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=417538) In my quest to get an iPhone SE to replace a lemon Sony Xperia Z3C phone (long story...) What was the problem with the Xperia? Have been looking at one of those to replace my ageing Samsung. (can you post your experien...

Re: Snakes in the house and garden

In my last townhouse I had multiple encounters of (harmless, green tree) snakes. My current townhouse twice has had frogs. It's always something! Back on topic, the phone number I have in my phone from a few years ago when I had the snakes is: 032-511-666, which was a special division in the Fire De...

Re: Best data package sim?

In my quest to get an iPhone SE to replace a lemon Sony Xperia Z3C phone (long story...) I found that AIS has much better data plans included with voice/data packages than True. I'm hopeless at navigating the AIS and TrueMove web sites to find the plans, but I have in front of me two brochures I pic...

Re: Airport surcharges, taxi fares to rise soon

I hadn't been on a Thai train for a while, and because of the station's close proximity had decided it was that time again. I was pleasantly surprised - 255 baht for 2 people in 2nd class with a fan/reclining seats. Waiting area in Bangkok had soft seats and air conditioning. I was able to watch 5 ...

There are also two "large size men's" shops in the basement of MV, and I *think* I saw underwear there. One of the shops is along the aisle that runs past the food court and Daiso, almost opposite Daiso. Maybe one or two "sois" from Daiso? If that stall doesn't have them they wil...

Re: Toilet tank valve replacement

I may be thinking of a Boonthavorn in a different location, but ISTR there is an American Standard shop in there and they had a catalog of American Standard products, including parts. It's not the Boonthavorn store itself, it's in the attached shopping "mall."

The debit cards I have with SCB and Bangkok Bank are both funded by savings accounts that are secured and earning interest. How would that be different with a secured credit card?

Re: Which Mobile Phone?

I don't think it was that Samsung bendable Galaxy phone, but I remember seeing a phone that was displayed at some trade show, and it was foldable like the "old fashioned" flip phones. I could see that being useful. Half the length when folded, so fits in your pocket or purse easier. Especi...

Re: Can an expat get a credit card in thailand?

Then it would seem the bank staff make up their own rules and have no consistency, as everyone has a different experience. Even my Thai wife has to have money in a fixed account equal to her credit limit. So, essentially it's a debit card? I know we can have debit cards. What's the difference betwe...

Re: New 6 pin chipped ATM cards at Thai banks

Is it the 6 digits that is causing the problem? i.e. Does Europe use a different number of digits? Or, is it something else about the new card that's incompatible?
