Re: Big C, Pre Cooked Chickens

In Europa they have the obsession to keep nearly everything in fridge as ex. eggs. I suggest you read this: Why Europeans Don't Refrigerate Eggs But Americans Do Source: http://uk.businessinsider.com/why-europeans-dont-refrigerate-eggs-2014-12 All this is bullshit. Okay, allow me to assist you in r...

Re: Big C, Pre Cooked Chickens

At the end of the day, food poisoning and/or runny stomachs are no less common today than they were 100 years ago. I have lived in three countries, and I have seen no difference in the number of times I have had the runs, whether in South Africa, Scotland, or Thailand. I have only had REAL food poi...

Re: Big C, Pre Cooked Chickens

I'm not sure if there's evidence of this but I believe that in our super hygienic world that we live in has prevented the natural immunity developing. I'm sure a lot of the illnesses we suffer today is because everything is so sterile now. When I think back to my childhood, I don't remember having ...

Re: Looking for help to convert tourist visa to a retirement visa

Hi You do not need any sort of visa service agent. It really is a VERY simple process proving you have the necessary funds in a Thai bank, in your name only, and the money needs to have been in the account for at least three months, with the balance never dropping below 800,000 baht during that time...

Re: Big C, Pre Cooked Chickens

There are plenty of ironies regarding this subject. Let's see, today we are told that the internal temperature of whatever must reach this, that, or whatever before it is ready to eat. How ironic that for hundreds of years there were never any thermometers for checking this, and people managed perfe...

I personally can't recall ever seeing a single fly in Makro Hua-Hin. In fact, I have often wondered how they do it.

Re: Trouble sleeping after Japanese food

To be honest, I have never yet managed to figure out a reason why people eat tofu in the first place. I realize that it provides a source of protein for vegans, but if you are not a vegan, why eat tofu? The bits of tofu that you often find in Thai soups and etc. have about as much taste as a mouthfu...

Re: Mr Burger 3 Re-opened as Oasis

The original Mr. Burger had been open for years and had a loyal/regular customer base before it shut. The place was then dead for ages before reopening as Oasis. I think it would almost certainly have picked up, but sometimes with such ventures, you need to have enough money to carry the business fo...

Re: Bomb disposal squad finds device near soi 6 Hua Hin

This has really got me thinking now. Do sappers deployed to places like Africa and the Middle East now wear protective gear and use robots every time they find a landmine? I seriously doubt it but I could be wrong. Maybe things have changed. Of course, I also realize that there is a big difference b...

Re: Bomb disposal squad finds device near soi 6 Hua Hin

Yes, bomb disposal units do have protective gear, but I would imagine it is only donned if deemed necessary. As a matter of interest, do British and other nationality Sappers deployed to the Middle East use fancy dress when sweeping for, or lifting mines? I'm just curious because during the South Af...

Re: Trouble sleeping after Japanese food

Ajinomoto is actually the name of a massive Japanese corporation that manufactures countless food products, of which MSG is only one. Nearly all Thai dishes contain MSG in one form or another even if the cook/vendor doesn't add actual MSG. For instance, it is in the pork and chicken seasoning powder...

Re: Hundreds of foreigners/teachers arrested in nationwide operation X-Ray Outlaw Foreigner

Absolutely Big Boy, if the schools stopped employing illegal teachers, there would be no illegal teachers. Of course, since foreigners are nothing more than 2nd class citizens at best, it is far better to simply target foreigners only, without making any clear attempt to tackle the root cause of the...

Re: Dutchman Jumps From Hua Hin Hotel

If I'm not mistaken, it happened just around the same time the schools were coming out. I had just picked two kids up from school and a short distance down the road there were several police vehicles and emergency vehicles. They had blocked of the road, with traffic being diverted.

Poor guy - RIP.

Re: Hibiscus tea

Are you referring to the red-colored tea? If so, you can often find vendors selling it cold with crushed ice around the wet market in town. If you have a garden, you can grow your own as well. Look for seeds called Roselle. They are very easy to grow and bloom like crazy. Wait for the flowers to wit...

Re: British home comfort food?

It was really in response to Takieb's question regarding anchovy paste . However, the quote I used is exactly the same quote as at your link in Wiki. The only extra info Wiki gives is that the yeast used is a byproduct of brewing. I think you will find that Marmite and anchovy paste have nothing in...
