Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc

It will come as no surprise that not every one is with Bangkok Bank - I’m with Kasikorn and they only provide what you ask for, if you don’t make a withdrawal on the day, they only update any previous transactions. Of course I know that. However such a simple entry (brought forward) I would imagine...

Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc

24 years and I've never had a visit and like BB have never been asked for a map. On another point, I've never done a transaction with the bank to show current date. The bank just puts a 'balance check' and it prints out in my bank book. I've never asked for it as they've done it automatically when p...

Re: Thailand general election fundamentally flawed: Human Rights Watch

I found this statement interesting. I have never heard these sayings. Has anyone else?
The Thai idiom is akin to the English expressions "He that eats the hard shall eat
the ripe" or "It is better to have a hen tomorrow than an egg today."

Re: Weekend in Ao Nang

One of my favourite places back in the day (10+ years ago). The last time I went I found that many of the restaurants had been taken over by the Indian community limiting what was some great food choices. Prices, especially in hotels, had soared and it had become just another tourist town. I don't e...

Not any more. It doesn't have much of anything and lots out of date.
Off topic: I think Nany's is the 'go to place' for imports.

Re: Soi Fire Extinguishers

I'm surprised the Trumpton Fire Brigade hasn't been woven into the 2024 presidential election although I guess it's exclusively English.

Re: Burn's Night

My first wife was Scottish so spent many a year north of the border. Mainly in Greenock (not Grennock) - we're off to join a branch of the Green Oak Tree! My party piece on Burns night was to recite the first 4 verses of Ode to a mouse. That got a lot of respect being that I'm a Yorkshireman. Always...

The Elderly!

This sets us oldies apart from the 'younger set'. They call us "The Elderly" We were born in the 40-50-60’s. We grew up in the 50-60-70's. We studied in the 60-70-80's. We were dating in the 70-80-90's. We got married and discovered the world in the 70-80-90's. We venture into the 80-90’s....

Re: Burn's Night

I don't know of any Burn's celebrations in Hua Hin. But I came across this from a Thai restaurant in Edinburgh which I thought was worth a mention. Popular Edinburgh eatery Ting Thai is set to redefine Burns Night celebrations with its daring culinary creation, the Pad Haggis. This limited edition d...

Re: Lotus' Go Hua Na closing down

The picture shown is pretty relevant. The car park was busy in the first couple of days. Now the only time it's full is when the market is open. The store is empty but the car park is full.(parking for the market.)
