Re: Retirement Visa Extension and Wise (Transferwise)

Didn't know about that. I use Bluport Branch and get charged B100 when I request a Credit Advice. Had a row with them last year, they wanted B500 for a year's worth of Credit Advice's My monthly bank wire transfers from my bank in the US arrive in my Bangkok Bank savings account. Years ago, when I ...

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand

The cost of the new meter will be about 13,000 baht. Another question, for those that are definitely on PEA power, installed a solar system and then had PEA switch out their meter for a digital meter, did PEA charge them for the cost of the meter or did PEA pay for it ?

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand

A friend bought a house in a relatively new gated community (underground utilities, project power and water.). After having a solar system installed on his roof, he was approached by the manager of the project and informed that he would have to pay the cost of having a digital meter installed to rep...

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand

As mentioned above, only available in certain areas of Bangkok and very difficult to set up, so for 99% of the population it is definitely not an "old wives tale". I’m pretty sure you can register with PEA here in Hua Hin to sell your excess power to PEA, unless they stopped offering that...

Re: What's happened to the milk supply?

I’m surprised that it was so long ago, but back in 2014 there was a shortage of milk, but I don’t think we knew the exact reason why? https://www.huahinforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=25682&hilit=Milk I drink and buy a LOT of milk, shortages such as the one we are experiencing now are not ne...

Re: What's happened to the milk supply?

There were a few 2 liter bottles of milk at Lotus’s MV yesterday, along with a sign in Thai. Per google translate the sign said “ himself with the situation Raw milk is in constant shortage and dairy cows are entering a milking break. This caused the number of pasteurized fresh milk products to be l...

Re: Vinyl Window & Door Screens

I need to find a shop that can replace the locking mechanism in my sliding, vinyl frame, glass patio doors. I may have to replace the doors themselves. Anybody have experience with or know of a vendor that specializes in high quality vinyl frame sliding glass doors ?

Re: Extreme jealousy in Thai relationships

Anyway HHTEL what are you doing to protect your family in this case? Sounds like absolutely nothing. What would you suggest he does? Other than the action already taken and held in reserve'? Obvious to me that getting the police involved (in advance) is probably the best option as a “plan A”. Takin...

Re: Residency letter from Immigration

Took my Mom in to get a residence letter a few years ago, so she could get a drivers license. The young intern at immigration, asked her if she wanted a license for car or motorcycle. She replied “both”. Later, at the Pranburi drivers license office, there was a major problem and they informed us th...

Re: Thai spellings of street names

I thought the G sound such as in Kuiburi, is somewere between a G and K and not an outright replacement. Thai language / alphabet has both “g” and “k” consonants and separate sounds. My Thai language teacher(s) will correct you if you mix them up. They also explain that it’s mainly a difference in ...

Re: Just HOW are folk going to get to the new rail station?

Once the road is widened on the east side, there could be a further tunnel under the road or a foot bridge. Surely, someone has thought this through or am I dreaming? ……. One thing Thais do well is huge construction projects! I agree, I’ve often admired the professional project management practices...

Re: Open a Bank Account with 30 Day Visa Exemption Stamp

The first thing that I will advise is: do NOT get an O-A visa! The easiest way is to obtain a 90 day tourist visa, then convert it when you get here to a simple O visa. There are several threads about it. I couldn’t agree more ! Unfortunately I came into Thailand with a “ Non-immigrant OA” visa 10 ...
