Re: Thai govt: clicking 'like' could land you in jail
"I can like whatever I like" surely you can't be thrown into prison for liking something! It is what's implicit in the liking which is the sharing and of course the assumption that you are trying to overthrow an elected government. However, any lawyer worth his money would be able to spot ...

Re: Tourist killed in Krabi for persistent singing
Tragic, but again, if the tourist hadn't started acting like a fool, this never would have happened. This is the type of comment that people who have been in Thailand for too long make. They forget that they once were perhaps over-excited tourists who are perhaps unfamiliar with the vulgar opportun...

Re: British student, 20, gang-raped by four men in Thailand
For what it's worth, it sounds to me like the boyfriend was only a boyfriend in the loose sense of the word - meaning that it's a convienient word for the police and the press to label what was really just a drinking partner or work colleague. His identity changed from Scottish to South African in T...

Re: Academy of Music in Hua Hin or Pranburi?
I sent my 5 & 10 year old kids to study piano at the Yamaha School on Petchakasem Rd a few years ago . It was better for the 10 year old. I had no complaints - it seemed methodical and comprehensive. There were lots of older kids hanging out there who had guitar and drumming lessons. They only h...

Re: Yingluck to discuss trade and tourism with British premi
I can't imagine how that conversation was conducted, judging by her very poor English skills.... Probably in sign language and using pictures! Even Abhisit didn't have the nuts to have a chat with his old school bully (Bullingdon's were just bullies)!! Hope he mentioned something about the different...

Re: Thailand's challenge of mass tourism
Anyone who believes Thailand tourism are at all worried about the demise of western tourists, in my opinion, is deluding themselves. I think there may be an elite of Thai's who still have keen interests in Europe and the US, but most of the new money Thai's who run things now can't wait to see the b...

You're quite right jonnyk, It's probably modelled on "Venice" Las Vegas or even "Venice Beach" California rather than Venice, Italy.
But then, of course, it would be!!
Let's just hope the casinos don't follow...!

Re: Letting down the language
What amazes me is how much money parents are prepared to waste on ways to teach their children 2 or more languages. If parents spent less and spent more time at home with their children doing with the children what they expect teachers at school to do, then they would have no problem mastering 2 lan...

Klai Kang Won School (on the same side of Petchakasem Rd as the palace). Offer classes for adults Monday to Friday daytimes for 1 baht a day for Thai citizens. Classes in computer programs, sewing and pattern cutting, cooking and lots more. Best of luck!

Re: Ten killed, 17 injured in Surat Thani bus crash
About a week ago, after a visa run to Penang, I decided to risk my life getting a "1st class" bus back to Hua Hin (seemed a bit too long to have to wait around for another day to fly to Bangkok). Anyway, the bus left Hat Yai at 7pm with one driver and one attendant. The bus stopped at 9.30...

Re: Teaching jobs in Hua Hin
Thanks for the clarification Pennywise, and apologies for perhaps seeming brash and rude. There are alot of people on this forum (including myself) with alot of time on their hands to pick at details and so we often get ourselves into trouble! I would only like to second what others have said by hop...

Re: Teaching jobs in Hua Hin
Must admit that I was being contentious and perhaps a little facetious but none the less it would be interesting to know the name of the school. I was being honest though. My friend who works at St Stephen's in Bangkok (who perhaps isn't that important!) did nearly choke on his beer when he heard th...

I'd be interested to know what international school in Bangkok pays their Thai nationality TAs 60,000bt per month.
I told my friend (a teacher in Bangkok) about your situation and he says you're a LIAR!!
Just give me the name of the school and that should settle the matter!
