In my experience it is rare for items to go missing from Hua Hin to wherever, but far too commonplace being not delivered to homes in Hua Hin, particularly from abroad, but also domestic mail. I still don't know whether this is down to bad organisation at the Post Office itself, or problems with pos...

My worst two were as follows; I was on a backpacking trip with my best mate around the Greek islands in 1982, and we had found the delight that is Naxos and spent a fantastic week or two there. To get to where we stayed we had hiked for about two or three hours in blazing hot sun, so for the return ...

Big Boy, While I agree with your concept of learning from the past and preparing for good and bad times, I don't agree that you could have predicted the current situation if, as I did, you moved here 10 years ago, or even 3 years ago; all you could say is that at some point in the future things are ...

As already noted the stickers are being handed out in numeous locations today - we got ours at Selasian School. I asked how long they would be there doing this, and the lady told me until the 20th October; whether that just applies to Selasian though I don't know but at least it gives a little breat...

norm, Given what you have just posted then I'd agree with buksi and say that your graphics card has got fried. They are normally not difficult to replace but the price varies between under 1000 baht to over 10,000, and it really depends what you use, or might use your computer for as to which one yo...

sarge, Just because I am proposing that there should be an automatic right to work doesn't mean that the majority would nor does it guarantee a job. What I envisage would happen is that more foreigners would start businesses in which they could work themselves legally without having to jump through ...

SJ, Firstly, when the Family Income option was introduced they did away with the 400k in the bank option, only to reintroduce it when they did away with the Family Income option near the end of 2008. I remember this as it directly affected me at the time - see this thread for confirmation. Secondly,...

I have just had a look back through the thread, after lomu's comment about abuses of the system, and the only potential abuses that may have happened are that a poor/rich under 50 year old marries so he can get the non O visa, a 'marriage of convenience'; as far as I am aware now, it is possible to ...

SJ, While I broadly agree with your last post, I think the main real issue here is how and why the immigration rules are changed and interpreted so often, and if the last change, which removed 'Family Income' was done because of some foreigners abusing the system (do you know this for certain?) then...

Does anyone know what the speed limit is on the stretch of road from Petchaburi to where the Cha Am turn off is? And that on the bypass as well? It would be handy to have the odd sign telling the motorist. I generally stick to the 90 - 100 kmph range with the odd burst above to get past traffic and ...

I don't know about your experience, but it seems to me that the internet in Hua Hin is all messed up at the moment; I have had a series of problems over the last couple of weeks, from patchy speeds to no internet to being unable to send email to having to change my router etc etc. I have a sneaking ...
