I can't make it either tonight so I hope everyone that does make it paint the town blue in honour of Chris. I had a quiet drink at Sugar Cane earlier in the week reflecting on the times I had there with Chris and I will raise a glass tonight to him as well.

If you are living in LOS, why would you want to routinely use a debit/credit card from your own Country in any case? Because, in my case, I get a monthly fee (interest) paid into my UK bank and I get interest paid on any positive balance, something that doesn't apply here. Plus I also have a big ov...

BaaBaa, It sounds like Liverpool and their fans are going to have to learn to live with what life is like for all the other clubs outside the 'Big 4'... It has been apparent for a long time that those clubs have tended to get favourable refereeing decisions more often than not, particularl...

hhf, I have used that one before, and (before the 15 baht charge) have never had the 150 baht fee. Out of interest, what bank is your ATM card from? I know that sarge uses a Nationwide one, and mine is a Barclays one, which are both UK banks, and I am assuming that you have a US one, so it would be ...

Ye Olde Buffalo Tavern set up a book club a few months back and will do you a deal regarding books - go and talk to Bill and you can also see what they have on offer; their collection is pretty big now.

I still think this may have something to do with which country your card is from, or possibly which bank(s), as until the 15 baht charge recently, I have never had any charge at that bank's machines, wherever they have been located.

I used the Bank of Ayudhya ATM near soi 41 a few days ago and that also showed the 15 baht message, but still no receipt. Up until then there had never been a message or charge at any of that bank's branches, nor a receipt.

hhf, I'd tend to agree with you, as long as we don't get any more weather systems heading this way from the East; other than catching the fringe of that typhoon that blew through the Phillipines and other places east it has been largely warm clear days and cooler nights for the last couple of weeks ...

Pete,
I think it is just them - I only use them as they don't incur the 150 baht charge, but on a couple of occasions I have been forced to use a different bank's ATM and the receipt is produced as well as the fee :cuss: I wonder if there is a connection?

fft100, When I first lived here I was also surprised at the lifespan of batteries, particularly car batteries, and on asking it seems to be a fact of life here; apparently in warmer climates batteries do not last as long and can also corrode easier. Car batteries are only expected to have a lifespan...

kn,
I think you will be pleasantly surprised at what it can do, but when you say 'reinstall the apple software' do you mean that you had wiped it already? If not then you shouldn't have to do anything except switch it on.

kn, I am pretty sure that a 6 year old Mac will not run Windows directly, although it can run it as a 'virtual machine'; there are a few bits of software around that enable this but for the spec of the laptop you have you will be a bit limited; go to www.macwindows.com/emulator.html#PCEmulators and ...

Norseman, A truly wonderful tribute, and the greatest thing of all is that Chris knew how you feel, as you came to his rescue and saved his life through your actions and financial help when he needed it. And you brought his plight to our attention so others could help as well - Chris never forgot th...

I was looking for something else in old threads and I came across this one, and had two thoughts; firstly, that it was worth having it appear on the first page again, and secondly, what happened to keets? I think this was his last post so it would be interesting to know if he made it to the party a ...
