Re: Bangkok’s ‘golden era’ according to expats

Re: Photo trip report: Unseen Northern Provinces
Thanks Buksi, always wanted to do that but feared I couldn't make it so never tried. Maybe if I'd known about the hammock bearers mentioned in Barry's post... ...but then no beer would have probably still prevented me from going.

Re: Photo trip report: Unseen Northern Provinces
Good stuff Buksi. Hope you went (are going) to see the standing Buddha just a few kms from Chiang Khan overlooking a beautiful spot high above the Mekong. We still have a home in the village just below the Buddha and it is a really popular spot for Thai tourists. Chiang Khan itself is a very nice to...

Sorry for your loss Pete. We lost a 10 year old raised from a pup in our last year over there and I still miss him so I know a little about what you are going through.

Very interesting video that shows the populations of the worlds biggest cities as they change from 1500 to 2018... I never knew that for a long time London was the most populous city in the world.

Re: A journey to the Disappointment Islands
I spent a week on the Rangiroa Atoll in French Polynesia back in the late 80's and it was much like this. There was one road (crushed coral) and no hotels or restaurants, and very few full time inhabitants. I stayed in a fairly primitive dive lodge run by some French guys. Back then the only tourist...

Bangkok Residents Told to Stay Inside as Pollution Reaches Dangerous Levels
"Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-Ocha has urged those living in the Thai capital, Bangkok, to stay indoors as the city’s air pollution reached dangerous levels. The air quality index, or AQI, climbed to 182 in Bangkok at 10:14am -- higher than the levels in Asia’s famously polluted metropolises of ...
