Re: Which Mobile Phone?
Too expensive for me, I thought. How could they afford it? Or, why? They can't, its on tick like everything else here. It’s not just Apple, Samsung sell phones equally expensive. True, I saw a 40k Xiaomi in MV also. Its just Apple people seem to be particularly fanatical/obsessive ... :duck:

Yeah, Appleheads are nutters ... some idiots will actually pay that ... or get themselves into debt to have the 'latest and greatest' from their beloved tech megacorp!

Re: Thailand News Summary
Exactly, millions won't get a baht because they don't live anywhere near where they are registered (the same archaic system with voting). The tax-registered shop stipulation also eliminates most small mom-and-pop stores, so it just appears to be a big money spinner for 7-Elevens (CP).

I guess a weakening currency = lack of confidence in the wider economy (which is essentially a house of cards in Thailand).dundrillin wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2024 11:03 am I would have thought a weakening baht would have been a catalyst for foreign investors but perhaps they are expecting the baht to weaken further.

Re: Which Mobile Phone?
Right, the bloatware is a problem on all phones. The forced app usage is designed to force and lock users into their own ecosystem and stifle competitors, a practice pioneered by Apple (which has made billions in profit out of doing so and is now being sued for it). I deleted or disabled most of the...

NFC is a hardware component that needs a Secure Element Identifier (SEID) chip, so its down to the spec of the phone, not where it was bought. The better (more expensive) phones, such as the Redmi Note Pro versions or the POCO phones have it.

The Chinese brands (some of which are not so cheap anymore) run on the same operating systems with the same updates - Android. So its more likely to be the blocking or restriction of Chinese products by the EU or specific companies than a general software restriction. Most banking, security, ID, and...

Yes, we all know that eating out there (and most of Europe) is more expensive so posting restaurant bills from fancy pubs is pretty pointless. Groceries have always been cheaper there for me (especially in certain shops such as Aldi and Lidl). But that said, I haven't been for two years, so haven't ...

Re: Thailand fuel/pump prices
This happens every time there is a hike, punish the petrol users to try and keep diesel down. We've stopped using the state-owned PTT stations following reports of skimming on fills and lower-grade fuels. They keep their market share due to the monopoly on the 7-Elevens, and Thais love their 7-Eleve...
