Re: Smoking ban on Hua Hin and Thai beaches, jail time for offenders

I saw a pic yesterday on another forum so can't provide a link. However it was a photo of a newly erected sign stating in English and Thai "Do not drink or distribute alcohol". The pic is claimed to have been taken on the beach in Hua Hin under a heading stating that Hua Hin police gettin...

Re: taxi to hua hin return

I didn't try this service but I guess it's run by Nany's restaurant in Soi 88 (the sign is hung in the restaurant). 1600 Baht one way sounds a good price, but I don't know what vehicle(s) they use so worth calling to find out. [Mod edit: image removed. HHF has its own taxi services so are not really...

Sorry BB but I like the way one thread can lead to useful info about something else. Quite right of you to move the discussion though of course!

Re: Snakes in the house and garden

Thanks. Chaindrite powder's active ingredient is shown as methrin on the bag, but I believe it's Alphacyphermethrin. Anyway, it definitely kills ants at a stroke! I just sprinkle it too, and even after it's washed away it doesn't need reapplying, I guess it soaks down into the nest. That's it done u...

Re: News of the Weird - this just in!

This may be the only country in the world that hypes up fog as a tourist attraction, and gives it a fancy name. :banghead: http://www.nationmultimedia.com/detail/breakingnews/30329365 Something similar in Oman, it's called The Khareef  https://www.thenational.ae/lifestyle/travel/need-...

Re: Govt to increase alcohol tax again

Interesting that the dept's published motivation for increasing tax (sin tax) was to reduce the purchase of alcohol and cigarettes yet they increase their revenue target by 7%! Tells it's own story as to their 'motivation'. Yep spot on, the UK budget every year does the same to one or more products...

Re: Buying an air rifle in Hua Hin

I personally don't think you can blame Thailand for not wanting us to own guns. They read the news too; all the cases mass shooting in the US and etc. How often do you get Thai people running around shooting people? Umm... "Thailand has a fervent gun culture on par with the United States and h...

Re: Buying an air rifle in Hua Hin

Soft bullets, are these what are also known as rubber bullets? Non lethal except in extremely rare cases?

Have the same impact as a lead bullet? :/

I had a great .22 air rifle in Dubai (legally) which I had to leave behind when I came here. I miss it.

Re: Smoking ban on Hua Hin and Thai beaches, jail time for offenders

Nereus, nice cartoon :D.
Yes fly-tipping is illegal dumping of large items (fridge, TV, etc.) or large amounts of waste (e.g. building waste) in a spot not licensed as a refuse site. Chucking cigarette butts or your KFC leftovers on the side of the road is also just littering in the UK.
