Re: Student protests in Thailand

This is what people mean when they talk about finding a way to get off the tiger's back without getting bitten. Can't ride it forever ... especially these days. The kids growing up now will not stand for all this sort of nonsense that belongs in the past. Might take another 10 years or so but it's c...

Re: Silent killer claiming thousands - Liver Fluke

I think a lot of Thais get it from the uncooked shrimp dishes and a few others like the local brewed fermented fish stuff too. I asked the Mrs about it one time and she said some folks take some kind of pill that is similar to what you give dogs for worms to get rid of them which kind of ended the c...

More from the only outlet that dares to report on it ...

Haha ... some irony in that second part of the quote on such a subject.

Re: Vitamin supplements

So is Magnesium Chelated good? Yes. Best magnesium forms are probably the chelated or citrate versions as they seem to offer the best uptake rates of absorbing it (magnesium glycinate is a soft version for those who are sensitive to the others). Magnesium is a very useful mineral to take, especiall...

Re: Vitamin supplements

It is also worth checking out the form a mineral takes itself in a supplement as some forms of a mineral are more easy for your body to absorb than others (bioavailability). For example, zinc oxide is not well absorbed but chelated zinc is or magnesium chloride is far more well absorbed than magnesi...

Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19) News

The problem is that governments have is that they can either save their economies and accept the losses or they save their people and destroy their economies. Obviously, they are mostly trying to find the balancing act between the two. It is easy for authoritarian governments that aren't very concer...

Re: Asia’s Deadliest Roads Are Getting $2.8 Billion Makeover

The reason why most of Thailand's roads are not too bad and they are always fixing/upgrading them is because road repairs and construction is low hanging fruit for corruption ... easy pickings.

Re: Thai education system

The Thai education system will not be fixed until the wider short-comings in society as a whole are either changed or severely reeled in/modernized ... like the patronage system et al, regardless of how much money they throw at the issue. Despite the best intentions of some and the desire to teach t...

Re: Cookies - can they be avoided?

Use Firefox browser but replace Google search with DuckDuckGo search as it's much more privacy orientated. Can all be sorted in settings and cookies auto-deleted/no tracking et al along with other stuff too etc. Use the Firefox add-on Adblocker Ultimate and you won't see the tsunami of ads on every ...

Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19) News

There is nothing wrong with people speculating/sharing info on a topic if it is civil, reasonably informed and not wild nonsense as that adds info for debate and contributes to conversation ... which is what forums are for.

Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19) News

It would be interesting to know the blood groups of those re-infected, and just infected, when this is done as it is being reported that blood group A people are most at risk (something to do with the sugars that coat cells as that's how the virus attaches itself to) as this blood group is most easy...

Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19) News

If we look back at the Spanish flu then it came and went on for three waves over two and a half years or so. This virus could easily be the same and could go on for a bit. As for the testing thing, could be some shaky test devices going around and especially earlier on ... maybe the new ones are bet...

Re: Covid19 - updates on immigration and visa extensions

Never underestimate the Thai love affair with paperwork/official documents as it is burned into their psyche as a badge of face/status/position/entitlement to anything or, of course, the lack thereof. Even in a situation such as this now they can't let it go ... in their DNA and make people line up ...

Re: China Coronavirus (Covid-19)

It will be interesting to see how much workers are penalized for the government lockdown here in Thailand at the end of the month regarding salary. OK, they said 5000 per person a month to the informal sector but they are probably planning to slash the numbers down to about 5 million from the 14 mil...

Re: China Coronavirus (Covid-19)

The big decision here is whether they restrict/ban inter-provincial travel as that will be a back-breaker. Could well be massive civil disorder if they do as most Thais won't be able to comply. SMEs devastated and looks like government help for your average Joe hasn't yet appeared on the horizon bec...
