Re: Seasonal Allergies

Zyrtec is centirizene albeit more expensive usually. I bought a strip this morning from a local chemist and was asked if I wanted local or brand name. 40 baht for local and it is an identical dosage. Certainly does the trick. My son takes Fexofenadine in the UK and some people prefer loratadine. The...

Re: Seasonal Allergies

A year since the last post but it certainly is hayfever season again. I had a miserable night last night as I had no tablets and first thing this morning got hold of some cetirizine (the one I know works for me) and an hour later relief at last. Funnily I hardly get the problems when out in Nongplab...

Re: Hua Hin to Chiang Mai Road Trip.

A good idea would be to use it for a local trip which you are familiar with and see which way it takes you and if it will get you there without the risk of getting lost. Ultimately it is advisable to have a map handy just in case. Worth mentioning, if you have not used one before, is not to be distr...

Re: Hua Hin to Chiang Mai Road Trip.

To try and keep it simple. When you plan a route in a sat nav you usually tell it to pick from a number of choices. Common ones are shortest or fastest but also include the option to keep off toll roads. There are numerous other choices. You give it a start and finish point and it calculates a route...

Re: Hua Hin to Chiang Mai Road Trip.

Did it last year. Left before daylight and timed it so that it was daylight when I turned onto route 321 towards Suphan Buri. Had to add a route point as the sat nav wanted to take me through Bangkok. Joined route 1 at Chainat and followed it to Lampang then route 11 across to Chiang Mai. Arrived ea...

Even going back to when the Klong road was a track there was the main guardhouse and I am sure the one in question is more recent

Palm Hills access road purposeless guard hut

Has anyone any idea why there is a manned hut on the link between Phetkasem and Palm Hills just after the fancy entrance section before the rail crossing. Strikes me as yet another job which really has no function and it is not that the guy posted there does anything.

Re: retirement visa service company

Before you rush off to a visa service company you might find that checking the many threads about this on the site you could do it yourself and save money. I have yet to do it but from the many helpful posts by Lomuamart it does not look that difficult.

Re: The bikers thread; trips, news, chat, all things motorcycle

Have just brought my Rukka bike jacket back from UK and will be selling it but not sure which will be the best places to advertise or how much it is worth over here as the market for something like this is limited. It is the Arma S type textile size euro 62 UK 52 so would fit a larger person. Anyone...

Re: Thai folk and mental arithmetic

Mathematics suffered due to the PC brigade with their SMP maths way back in the seventies and calculators had a huge effect. I learnt to do quick basic maths at the dart board. Chalking a lot until I was good enough to stay on for a few games and playing the game required quick mental arithmetic. Th...

Re: Garage to check Honda Click brakes

I have used that Yamaha dealer for a long time going back to when there was a cinema just across from the shop. Always had reasonable service and prices, sometimes free if it was just a quick adjustment even if the bike was not bought there.

Re: Water supplies to residential areas

A few years ago our supply was pretty bad. Weak pressure for about four hours in the middle of the night only. I modified the pipes after the meter so that I could either pump water from the tank to the house or from the mains to the tank. It only needed a little mains pressure and the pump ensured ...

Re: Mobile contract with international roaming.

I currently have a dual sim phone with a 12call top up card in and my Vodafone UK sim. Working on the suggestions above can one sim provide all my needs or should I perhaps have one possibly more expensive per call one for use when travelling and another for local use on a cheaper rate. I am trying ...

Mobile contract with international roaming.

As an alternative to keeping my UK contract and running my AIS prepaid I will be venturing into MV to check on getting a local contract with international roaming. I like to do some groundwork before being exposed to the salesmen and my Thai is not up to the providers websites whose English pages ha...
