Speaking of slum movies, has anyone seen a movie called Salaam Bombay about street kids in India? I haven’t seen it for a long time but I remember it being pretty good.

I seem to remember that the Hua Hin office opened after 2004 but I could be wrong on that. For the OP, from Nakhon Ratchasima, I reckon that the quickest to get to would be in Bangkok; it might not be geographically the closest, but it’s an easy drive or bus journey.

I agree with Pete on the fishing boats. Last month I spent quite a bit of time looking around the beaches near Pak Nam Pran where there are almost no tourists at this time of year and any small amount of rubbish that was on the beach definitely looked like the sort of stuff that would be thrown off ...

I sometimes wander if perhaps the decline in business ethics recently amongst the ex-pat community is linked to a declining amount of business. Perhaps people are stooping to underhand methods because money is not as easy to come by as it was. This is just a thought, I don’t have any business inte...

Did you know that this company was formed by the bizarrely named King Camp Gillette? Would you buy anything off someone called King Camp?
He sounds like the impresario of the Blue Angel, mind you; maybe that’s why he knew so much about shaving!

If you follow the lineage of the Honda Wave back through to the Cub and Super Cub, it’s been produced in far higher numbers than any other motor vehicle in the world.

Pete, the bridge I mean is the third one of the three new ones that have been built, that crosses the river from the end of the southern bit of the 9 expressway which is supposed to eventually join up to the Eastern ring road. I haven’t tried the bridge that you are referring to as I wasn’t sure...

Pete, we’re still having to use the Rama IX bridge; the last bridge that would get you on the ring road still wasn’t open two weeks ago, although it looks complete so maybe it will be soon. I hope so because I think that will improve things a bit, and for the drive I do up to Issan as well.

I think it sums up the regime in Myanmar when you see in this sad photo following the shooting of the Japanese journalist, that the soldier who has been sent to do the junta’s dirty work hasn’t even been supplied with a pair of boots.http://mizzima.com/Foto-2007/Sep/27foto/japanbig.html

Bloody hell BB, that sounds a bit ropey; I went to an Issan wedding in April but there was no raw chicken eating going on. We did offer to slaughter the pig, but this was at four in the morning at the end of a Chang fuelled stag night. Luckily for the pig, the locals wisely declined our offer! On th...

I’ll look forward to that Pete. I took a load of pictures up in Issan last month so I’ll pick one out to enter, no history though, just rice and the odd kwai! It amuses the locals no end when you take pictures of that sort of stuff. I showed one to my partner’s mother and she asked me where it...

It’s a shame the Dubliner has gone, I used to pop in there sometimes as we’ve known some of the staff for a while and it was always good for a last drink later on. I hope they manage to find new jobs somewhere.

Sorry Jaime, Mickey is going somewhere else: The second deal involves a joint venture with a Dutch property firm to develop a 1,600-hectare land plot in Cha-am district of Phetchaburi province as a residential project. Original plans were to locate a Disney theme park on the property, but TCC Land h...
